Taliban use girl, 8, as bomb mule in attack on Afghanistan police post
Source: The Guardian

Taliban insurgents used an eight-year-old girl carrying a bag of explosives to attack a police checkpost in central Afghanistan, the Afghan government said on Sunday, making her one of the youngest child bombers of the decade-old conflict.

The incident took place in Char Chino district of central Uruzgan province, the interior ministry said. "The insurgents handed over a bag with a homemade bomb to an eight-year-old girl and asked her to take it to police forces," it added.

"As the girl was getting close to the police, it exploded and killed the girl."

It was the latest in a string of unusual attacks on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

3. Extremely sick propaganda
Edited on Sun Jun-26-11 04:34 PM by Ripley
By whom we don't know. Is it really the sick fuck Taliban who admittedly hate females so much they would sink to strapping bombs upon 8 and 9 year old girls? Or is it the black operations run by those who profit heavily from the endless wars in the region? Perhaps they set up these situations which surely instill shock and awe in people the world over, especially Americans. Who thereby believe our continued military presence there is justified.

And it gives Obama a soundbite to not leave because "look how barbarian these people are."

Noticed this line in the article:

The violence comes days after Barack Obama announced plans to withdraw 33,000 American troops by September 2012, and undermines his claims to have militants "on the run".

Where have I heard "on the run" before?

5. Seems like they've got bored
with the standard etiquette for suicide bombings and are running through novel permutations:

Taliban say husband and wife in Pakistan suicide attack

A husband and wife carried out a suicide attack that killed eight people at a police station in north-western Pakistan, the Taliban has said.

The attack took place late on Saturday in Kolachi, near the tribal region and Taliban stronghold of South Waziristan.

The pair entered the police station dressed in burkas, hiding rifles, hand grenades and suicide vests underneath.

They held staff hostage for several hours before detonating themselves, killing seven officers and a tea boy.

6. Unfortunately this has happened in war zones
in the past around the world...

I guess child soldiers, and genocide are also sick propaganda.

All I can say is given the history of war in the 20 and now 21st century... yes it is possible, as in very possible.

7. Who is doing this?
The war lords sit around and say hey "let's kill our children." While many crazy people live on this planet and would do that, what are the chances they do it at politically opportunistic times?

As in, way to rev up the pro-war citizens?

You are aware of propaganda from black ops, Nadine?

9. Debunk this piece of propaganda

By the way, having worked for a humanitarian organization I know it happens. I got FIRST HAND info from kids in El Salvador back in the 80s... oh and from both sides.

It does happen...

And yes I am damn familiar with black ops, I doubt Julio and Marcos, two of the kids I debriefed, fictional names, very real kids, were telling us lies about being child soldiers.

And yes, children have rarely been used to carry bombs to targets across the world in different conflicts.

10. Yeah, yeah, You're the DU expert on War
Which war have you NOT been involved in?

I'm aware of child soldiers. That has nothing to do with strapping bombs upon innocent kids and telling them, such as that 8 year old girl to walk to the policeman.

Yeah, I recall Vietnam stories of women and children carrying bombs, too.

But do you really not see the geopolitical significance of this happening NOW?

Do you really not believe that some of these highly offensive acts are staged for the benefit of a few?

What this does is reinforce the war's necessity, i.e. American tax dollars.

Why question it, eh?

11. Actually I have
Edited on Sun Jun-26-11 09:45 PM by nadinbrzezinski
the war on drugs in Mexico wich was already quite hot, and we processed a slew of refugees from the fun and games in Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador....

And no I am not an expert, but I suspect I have a tad more experience in it than you could ever imagine. It is not something I enjoyed, or enjoy having nightmares about.

As to these highly offensive acts, yes they are staged, and no, they are not frequent or common... and believe it or not not everything that happens around the world is caused by the ugly CIA\MI-6\ MOSSAD crews. Some of it is quite local... and yes the ISI might have a hand, so could the Talban, which surprise surprise, is not fully united either.

Oh and Afghanistan and the border regions of Pakistan are among the most fractured and tribal in the world... yes it could happen...

Being skeptical does not mean all that happens in the world is propaganda. Some of it is quite ugly, and that includes using kids to deliver bombs, which we KNOW happened in Central America by the way.

By the way some of the things that those people we debriefed regaled us with... you would call black ops and propaganda as well. Such is life...

By the way any other ad hominems you want to throw at me since you cannot imagine that this could remotely happen? Your lack of imagination is not my problem by the way.

Oh and alerted

13. Debriefed?
You seem so sure of your way of life yet you immediately "alerted" on my inquiry.

Not very democratic. So what exactly are you fighting for?

8. This is the 2nd time in a week that a little girl has been forced
to carry bombs. Last week it was a 9 yr. old girl who had been kidnapped. This is insane and horribly sad.

Last week in Dir district in north-western Pakistan, police defused a bomb strapped to a nine-year-old girl who said she had been kidnapped in Peshawar then set off walking towards a checkpost.

Of course any minute now someone will tell us how this isn't because of religion, it's because the guy had a bad day, and needed love....etc...
