U.S. Ready To Arm Philippines Amid China Tension
Source: Agence France-Presse

WASHINGTON — The United States said Thursday it was ready to provide hardware to modernize the military of the Philippines, which vowed to "stand up to aggressive action" amid rising tension at sea with China.

Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario, on a visit to Washington, said the Philippines hoped to lease equipment to upgrade its aged fleet and called for the allies to revamp their relationship in light of the friction with China.

"We are determined and committed to supporting the defense of the Philippines," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told a joint news conference when asked about the hardware wish-list from the Philippines.

Clinton said the two nations were working "to determine what are the additional assets that the Philippines needs and how we can best provide those." She said del Rosario would meet Defense Secretary Robert Gates and other Pentagon officials.

3. All hail the High Church of Redemptive Violence
More bombs, more missiles, more guns and rifles, more violence! Hallelujah!

You know, if a Democrat runs in 2012, I'm tempted to vote for that candidate.

5. Sweet! Our old buddy World War III slowly lurches a little closer to Bethlehem.
Howdy-do Mr Void! Here are my three sons. Kids, say Hello to the End Of All and give him the Glad Hand! Boys, I know we spent a lot of time watching documentaries on swimming fish and chirping insects and you all remember the times we watched those great shows on astronomy? Well, it turns out that the Future had something a little different in mind for your sweet spirits. Take those pamphlets Mr Void is handing out and look them over. Oh, I know it's terrible. Yes, those are real people those things are being done to. Papa really hoped you boys wouldn't have to see those things but Mamas and Papas can't make some things go away, no matter how hard we try. Maybe if you boys make it through, the world will be a good enough place so that your kids can enjoy the swimming fish and the chirping insects and the stars a-twinkling in the sky.

But I'm afraid that's probably far off right now. As far off as Heaven.

7. Better send about 10 times the amount needed
because after every Filipino politician, and every general takes his cut, there won't be enough left over to buy slingshots. No offense to any Filipinos here, but it all comes down to the money, and the Philippine Government has always enjoyed the "donations" made by the US Government.

8. Since the Phillipines kicked us out of their territory, we owe them nothing.
They certainly had the right to make us leave. But we also have the right to tell them to screw themselves when they need our help. It definitely should not go past a little material aid. Unless there is an absolute U.S. security interest in this situation, we should not risk a single one of our sons' or daughters' lives there. I pray that it does not reach that point.

11. When it comes to money for....
building wind turbines to become energy independent, there just isn't any available. Same goes for creating jobs, and health care. Weapons and blank checks to Wall Street, no problem.
