Families say Guantanamo 'suicides' were killings
Source: AFP

WASHINGTON — The families of two detainees who died in Guantanamo Bay in 2006 on Monday challenged the government's assertion that the prisoners committed suicide, saying they were tortured to death.

Relatives of Saudi national Yasser al-Zahrani and Yemeni Salah al-Salami demanded the federal appeals court reconsider their cases in light of new information, including eyewitness accounts from four US military guards.

"They have direct eyewitness accounts of a cover-up of the actual circumstances of the deaths" their attorney, Padriss Kebriaei, said, adding that both the Bush and Obama administrations maintain they were suicides.

At the time of their deaths, Al-Zahrani, 21, and Al-Salami, 33, had been detained without charge and held incommunicado for about four years at the US base in southeastern Cuba.

1. Damn good thing that Obama has fullfilled his campaign promise
to shut down Gitmo. No need to worry about these things happening again.

3. Oh that Due Process, that Rule of Law
so glad our President is a Constitutional Scholar. Wouldn't want someone in charge that didn't know the law..... I wonder if everyone else in this country feels secure in knowing that they will see their day in court, if ever they were suspected of ties with terrorism....

BTW anyone know whatever happened to those Anti-War activists from Chicago?

5. There they go again looking backward.
We must totally ignore all the crimes and corruption authorized by the bushes just because we can't look back.

That not looking backward crap was one of the stupidest things ever said by Obama. It sounds more like something Palin would say. I know he is a smart man but damn he says some of the stupidest things.

When will Americans ever see justice again?

6. "We must totally ignore all the crimes and corruption authorized by the bushes"...
...so that our present "leaders" can commit more of the same.
