U of Alberta Dean apologizes for plagiarizing convocation speech

Edmonton - During a graduation ceremony, a University of Alberta dean made a “phenomenal speech” to graduating medical students, but after some online research, students concluded that it was taken from a Stanford University graduate.

Following the “phenomenal speech,” students took to the Internet to only find out that it was copied. “I was very impressed with the speech. It was very eloquently given and reflected very well on the evening,” said Jonathan Zaozirny, a medical student.

Zaozirny told CBC News that he was amazed to find out that the speech was word for word and that only a few lines, the school’s name and a topic about Medicare in the United States were revised. Baker even included a pause in his introduction.

4. Either academic integrity is important or it's not.
If any one of those doctors had done that, they wouldn't be a doctor now.
