New Prosecution Team as Strauss-Kahn Moves
Source: The New York Times

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has assigned two senior prosecutors to take over the sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, removing a less experienced assistant from what promises to be a vigorous court battle.

Joan Illuzzi-Orbon and Ann P. Prunty will replace Artie McConnell as the lead prosecutors on the case, according to several people briefed on the matter, including two assistants currently in the office.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund, was also on the move on Wednesday; he had found a new place to live in Manhattan, at 153 Franklin Street, and he moved there early Wednesday evening.

Mr. Strauss-Kahn, who is accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at the Sofitel New York hotel, and is free on $1 million cash bail and $5 million bond, had been under house arrest in an apartment at 71 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.

1. I wonder what criminal lawyers on DU think of this
I don't mean this case in particular, but changing prosecutors at this point of a prosecution in general.

2. Not changing, adding two seniors.
Not surprising. Adding two kick-ass, female prosecutors is a good move.

3. They pretty much had to.
As I recall, their senior prosecutor was terrific, but she had to recuse herself because her husband works for the defense attorneys' law firm.

4. Because that is a high profile case, that is not surprising at all.
