I originally posted in GD from a "breaking news" report that aired on KMBC, Channel 9 out of KC. I've posted this over here with a link to the actual story and more clarification then what was originally offered.

Either way, it's a bad situation over in Joplin. My best to them all from upstate.

2. My thoughts are with all, including the injured officer.
I wish them the best and hope for a speedy recovery, both physical and emotional.

3. BBC News link with video
Officials in the US state of Missouri say at least 116 people are now confirmed dead after a tornado hit the city of Joplin on Sunday, crushing cars and flattening homes.

But Joplin official Mark Rohr also said seven people had been rescued.

A thunderstorm carrying hail and high winds was hindering ongoing search and rescue efforts on Monday afternoon.

Mr Rohr said the tornado cut a path six miles (10km) long through the city, much of which is now without power.

6. Poor Guy....
how much worse can it get. From the photos I've seen, it looks like a nuclear wasteland.

It'll get worse.
