Six dead in attack on Iraq foreign exchange shops
Source: AFP

BAQUBA, Iraq — Gunmen attacked two foreign exchange shops in the central Iraqi city of Baquba Saturday, killing six people and stealing money before setting off a car bomb when police arrived, officials said.

The attack occurred at around 12:40 pm (0940 GMT) in the centre of the city, 60 kilometres (40 miles) north of Baghdad, a security official in the provincial security command said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The gunmen shot dead three people in each currency exchange store before stealing an unspecified amount of money and fleeing the scene.

When police arrived at the looted shops, a car bomb exploded nearby, wounding four civilians and five policemen, including Colonel Mudhafar al-Mujamaie.

1. Will we ever simply acknowledge that Iraq has it's criminals as well?
Remember....dumb shit and darth, rummy and the incompetent fool that handled the Iraq "reconstruction period" totally ignored the stock piles of weapons all over Iraq, and disbanded the military into the ranks of the unemployed.

Now...with weapons in everyone's hands....unemployment at an unbelievable rate that makes the Great Depression look like "happy days are here again"; can't we just accept the fact that there are probably thousands of just plain THUGS that rob and murder to line their own pockets? Does everything have to be a "terrorist attack"?

Maybe it wasn't stated, but I found it clearly implied. We have cranked up a once "controlled society" to be an NRA haven on steroids, where everyone can have their own automatic weapons, rocket launchers and cache of grenades if they so chose. The NRA would be proud.

And then it makes news when some thugs hold up, rob and murder a money exchange? Good God, what nonsense. When you are starving, you are driven to do very inhumane things to survive. Ever wonder why so many Mexicans are lured into the drug cartels? Offer me a life with nothing, or a life with food and a decent existence, and no telling what I might do.

2. These were terrorists not "criminals"
A car bomb was timed to go off when police arrived. Ordinary criminals would not do that. It would make no sense.

3. Attackers make off with $3.4m dinars in raid on currency traders in Baquba
Many of the heists have been blamed on Sunni extremists, who are said to be short on cash and seeking ways to fund their operations, or former fighters who have turned to crime instead.
