U.S. will stand by Pakistan, Clinton says
Source: Reuters

By Arshad Mohammed and Saeed Azhar

ROME/ABBOTTABAD | Thu May 5, 2011 3:19pm BST

(Reuters) - The United States said on Thursday it would stand by its ally Pakistan despite the strains in the relationship exposed by the discovery and killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. troops close to the Pakistani capital.

"It is not always an easy relationship, you know that," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on a visit to Rome.

"But, on the other hand, it is a productive one for both our countries and we are going to continue to cooperate between our governments, our militaries, our law-enforcement agencies, but most importantly between the American and Pakistani people."

In the aftermath of bin Laden's death, Clinton said Washington and its allies must continue working with Pakistan to fight al Qaeda in that country and Afghanistan.

2. Like I said....The White House knows more than we do, obviously
I haven't heard anyone from within the White House threatening to take aid away from Pakistan.

Pakistan Can Still Count On U.S. Aid

http://www.businessinsider.com/pakistan-can-still-count-on-aid-from-the-us-2011-5

Furthermore, the White House briefings have been quite interesting. Some quotes:

WH's Carney on US-Pakistan relations: 'It's a complicated but important relationship. Pakistan is a key partner in fight against terrorism'

More from White House on Pakistan: 'You have to be careful about tarring everyone in the government'

I also recently saw an interview with Jimmy Carter who held the same views.

I would assume the White House knows far more than we do, or ever will.

9. Like what? Better the Devil you know? That a secular military regime barely holding it together...
...is preferable to an extremist theocratic terrorist breeding ground? With access to nukes? Next to a hated enemy teeming with over a billion people? Also, uncomfortably close to oil? Considering they harbored bin Laden FOR YEARS and God knows what else while he was there, the admonitions ring hollow. The "military aid" is the only thing propping the regime up against less desirable forces, but they're rotted from the inside so guess what we're doing by continuing aid ... yep, continuing to help the extremist theocratic terrorists already lurking within the existing government. There's no State Department document necessary here, no Secret Knowledge guarded by Gnostic Ninja Monks, no Wikileak needed to reveal any of this.

Of course it's not the Pakistani people's fault. It is the Military. We KNOW they fund the Taliban and Al Qaeda - Wikileaks and other sources have confirmed this without a doubt. And WE fund their military & ISI!

SO HOW MANY OF MY FUCKING TAX DOLLARS ARE GOING TO THE TALIBAN AND AL QAEDA??!!

We need to ask questions and have hearings NOW, and not just let the war machine take our tax dollars, give it to Pakistan so Pakistan can buy more weapons from us and fund and harbor our enemies at the same time

"Productive for both our countries" my fucking ass! They are the "partner" that helps keep the war on terror going.

So yeah, sorry, I'm not just going to take the White House word on this. The White House has proven that it's looking out for the interests of defense contractors first and foremost.

Fucking stupid people will just let this slide.

5. It looks like we are STILL not going to publicly face the fact that Pakistan is not our friend.
No Muslim country is truly a friend or reliable ally of the U.S. Maybe some day, but not right now.

7. When you invest billions in suicide terror cell development, it must be hard to give them up, huh?
This defense intelligence guy on the news the other day said
we were not in Afghan for Al Qaeda and Osama, but to fight the
Taliban because of their underground drug market and the way
they treat their women... duh???? we got some of that going on
here too.... wtf? Put our money into our growth, not their
business, please.

8. ...just as Pakistan stood by bin Laden for years. Literally. Within mere yards. FOR YEARS.
Keep giving them YOUR money if you love them so damned much, Hillary. Stop giving them MY money.

10. If she's not providing cover for a quick exit strategy from Afghanistan/Pakistan then...
...I give up. The Pakistani government is not our friend. They're not India's friend. They're bin Laden's friend.

They only let us hang around because we keep them drenched in money.

I can think of worthier pursuits for America than that kind of relationship.
