Capitol damage cost claim based on 1 page of notebook paper
Handwritten page was all state had behind $7 million figure

By Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel

March 30, 2011 |(59) Comments

Madison — State officials' controversial courtroom testimony that protesters did more than $7 million in damage to the Capitol was based on a single handwritten page.

An open records request by the Journal Sentinel on the damage estimate turned up only one page of notebook paper listing costs written before the courtroom testimony. Other e-mails from state officials listing areas to check for potential damage also were released, but there were no others with any dollar figures written before the court testimony.
..........

The state also released a letter from Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch to Dane County Circuit Judge John Albert, who presided in the Capitol access case, saying his testimony on the costs was an effort to give the court what information the agency had "in an expedited fashion."

"In normal circumstances, I prefer to have more complete figures before I rely upon them for my own decision-making purposes and before they are released to the public," Huebsch said.

Huebsch is an evil poodle of Gov. Walker.

He only purpose that day was to demean the protesters and he did it a court of law!!

I'm sure that Walker and his cronies probably wanted to include some top-of-the-line security investments added to the capitol (Statuary that shoots lazer beams at protesters! Getting 4 years of the Xe Premium Security Package - if you allow them to put HD cameras in the ladies room!!!)

50. 1 page or "13,000 emails" either one works for them
they tell the story
repeat it
then talk about their own report like it is confirmed fact

In the "Climategate" nonsense the "13,000 emails" made it sound like it was an expansive collection and an impressive representation. In the next sentence of the speel they cited 7 "questionable" emails.....from 13,000. Of course they don't mention the 2 (or was it 3?) government reviews that found the whole thing was completely contrived nonsense.

that distorted molehill wouldn't have been turned into a mountain in time to weaken obama's position in copenhagen if it wasn't for the concerted efforts of limbaugh especially- he devoted a week at least in the lead up to the conference. at first the general media left it alone but it after a week of pounding from 600 stations on behalf of the kock bros and company it was ready for prime time and professors who limbaugh named repeatedly, foaming at the mouth, were getting death threats.

Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 09:07 AM by Roy Rolling
On the cost estimate notebook page itself, is that the one-page estimate is priced at $500,000. Half-a-million dollars for the notebook page of made up numbers.

Even funnier, if you can call it that, is the asterisk saying the cost estimate DOES NOT INCLUDE any carpet replacement.

Is there not a penalty for trying to mislead a court? I mean, the right-wing echo chamber may be morons and repeat anything their minions declare, but presenting such lies to a court with the intent to mislead is called perjury in most cases....

30. I take a different read on this
A single page of notebook paper was the only thing the could find for an open records request?

While it remains ridiculous, I suspect this means that they are not handing over all the records they are supposed to. In fact, at this point in the game, I would be a little shocked if that whole crew hasn't had the shredders and data scrubbers going for a while now, in hopes of avoiding anyone being able to get the real behind the scenes communications.

.... My guess is some of it made its way back to the USA and pays for republicans, tea party people,
and ads that flood the t.v. and radio such as the crap Ari Fleischer puts out.

The Iraq war was all about the dollars and my guess is that the right wing / military / industry complex got a huge
"slush fund" out of the unneeded war.
