PBS contacted by fake Muslim group that duped NPR
Source: Associated Press

PBS says it was contacted by the same fake Muslim group that arranged a meeting with an NPR executive and secretly videotaped him calling the tea party racist.

PBS spokeswoman Anne Bentley said Wednesday that they had an initial conversation with the Muslim Education Action Center but had concerns about the group. She says a PBS executive was contacted, but when PBS couldn't confirm the organization's credentials, they halted discussions.

1. It's too bad that CPB unbrellas both.
NPR, through it's unwillingness to stand up for itself and it's own boneheaded moves, is going to take PBS down with it.

13. Hear, hear.
Instead of running scared that he called the teabaggers racist, everyone should be celebrating it.

2. They have a phony website linked to James O'Keefe's "Project Veritas"
The Muslim Education Action Center is headed by "Simon Templar." Hint, hint. It's easy to find on Google.

Some assistant-type at NPR did some really poor due diligence in checking out MEAC before granting the interview.

10. No. Was Sascha Baron Cohen committing fraud when he put on a silly
accent and filmed people saying less than flattering things? Was the guy who said he was Koch committing fraud?

5. It's pretty clear there is a group of people threatened by NPR and PBS
I'm sure those same people would like to control the content on radio waves and TV. They probably only want Fox, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh propaganda instead of NPR and PBS personalities like Bill Moyers or real investigative reporting.

Just because one bonehead at NPR got duped, doesn't mean the entire NPR organization is full of boneheads or that they are pulling NPR down with them. The whitehouse just involved itself. And *I think* that NPR is still going to get funding.

He seems to be co-conspirator for O'Keefe's schemes.

9. O'Keefe better be careful or he will get nabbed under one of those
state laws the Republicans have been pushing ever since Walker got punked with "Koch call." That would be rather delicious irony.

15. I believe there is an investigation in Md
When he secretly recorded at an Acorn office in Baltimore. Ask Linda Tripp about that law, or maybe we should ask the Baltimore DA office?

17. He tampered with the phone line of a sitting senator and walked away scot free.
Personally I hope Anonymous takes a look into this guy soon.

If we follow the law of republican hypocrisy: Whatever a republican is the most visible in fighting is what he secretly does e.g. anti-gay bigot= closet case, family values= bangs hookers... then you have to start to wonder what would be on the hard drive of a republican who pretended to be interstate pimp of underage prostitutes.

18. Actually, he got 3 years probation.
If he breaks his probation by committing a crime, he goes to jail.

19. He never tampered with the phones - he told the congressional
staff that there were phone problems but never had access to them. They were trying to catch the staff under-reacting to information that constituents were unable to get through on the phones.

He sets the stage for the stings, but his targets tend to dig their own political graves.
