Rodney King pulled over (1 day) before anniversary
Source: UPI

ARCADIA, Calif., March 4 (UPI) -- Police in California said Rodney King was pulled over one day before the anniversary of the infamous beating at the hands of Los Angeles police.

The Arcadia Police Department said King was pulled over Tuesday, the day before the 20-year anniversary of his videotaped beating at the hands of Los Angeles police, after officers received a report of a man driving recklessly in a green Mitsubishi, TMZ.com reported Friday.

A police spokesman said officers determined King was driving with an expired license and he was issued a citation.

3. But he gives a bad name to the movement against police brutality
because he seems to have no respect for any laws.

4. True, but lets just say he did the worst, like ate babies at Olive Garden
Would the beating he took in 91 still be justified?

13. So what ?
Police deal with lawbreakers all the time, with people who have no respect for laws and don't beat up on them when they deal with them. Does the fact that King seems to have no respect for any laws mean that his first beating was justified? You're mixing apples and oranges.

6. Rodney King seems like an idiot...
from what I've seen about his history.

But there is no reason he should be viewed as a spokesperson or held to a high standard just because he was the victim of police brutality.

The point is that even people that act stupidly like he does do not deserve to be beaten the shit out of, no one does, and that's the point that Republicans will gloss over.

11. So He SHOULD Have Been Beaten Up Back Then?
I see Rodney King as a sort of test case. He obviously has a bunch of run-ins with the law, and those who still believe he shouldn't have been treated the way he was aren't the ones simply paying lip service to due process, justifiable force and all that jazz.

14. did you see me say that?
NO, I DID NOT, what I am saying is ....if you have had a shitload of contact with the cops and they seem to have a habit of beating your ass at every turn ....don't you think you would learn to get your act together and NOT keep doing the same dumb shit over and over???

15. If anyone else saw the CNN special last night about King
they would not be surprised he was pulled over.

I have no idea why his license was expired. It's hard for me to believe that he was driving "recklessly" when I'm sure everyone in the LAPD still knows where he lives, what his license plate numbers are, bla bla bla.
