Rebels 'Will Use Force To Take Tripoli' (any intervention will be confronted...)
Source: Sky News

The president of Libya's newly-formed National Council has told Sky News that if Tripoli does not liberate itself then the rebel army will take it by force.

In an interview with Sky News - his first since being elected - Mustafa Abdul-Jalil appealed to the international community for help.

"Tripoli is fighting against oppression and when it falls the regime will follow. Now the support around Gaddafi is collapsing. What we want is an air embargo to stop Gaddafi bringing in mercenaries."

But mistrust of the international community is still strong. His reaction to the prospect of help from foreign troops wasn't so welcome.

He said "any intervention will be confronted with more force than we are using against Gaddafi."

1. the last quoted section is the most interesting and most heartwarming
it will leave many looking to involve US/NATO occupation forces more than a little disappointed, some are quite ready to be welcomed as "liberators". It's odd, that line seems so familiar, as if the same song was sung a few years ago from the other side of the aisle--only, it was a "bad thing" then..

2. HUH ???
The OP says: " .... In an interview with Sky News - his first since being elected .... "
When was there an election and who voted?

I think they formed the Council on the fly and decided informally who'd be the leader.
Using the word 'elected' is a bit misleading :)
