Christie Stays Out of Wisconsin Union Battle
Source: WSJ

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie shot to prominence last year by challenging public unions, but he ducked questions Friday about whether he would support Wisconsin-style legislation to weaken union power.

“I support Governor Walker’s strong action to balance his budget,” he said.

Christie, who campaigned for Walker in the fall, said he trusted and supported him. But saying it was “not a New Jersey issue,” Christie declined to answer questions about whether he would entertain similar measures to slash collective-bargaining rights or require public workers to vote annually to keep their unions intact.

“I’m not going to sit here and go through every proposal that’s been put on the table in Wisconsin and give my opinion on it from however far away we are, 1,000 miles or so,” Christie said. “If proposals are put forward in New Jersey by parties that merit me giving my opinion, I’ll give it, but until that time, I’m not going to.”

3. Coward is right!
He doesn't want unions in NJ gearing up to protest HIS efforts toward disenfranchising workers. Likely, it's too late for that, if my years of experience as a union member serve as a guide.

7. I think he's wetting his pants in fear that the scene in Trenton would be an awful lot like
Madison! Then he'd have to go to Disney World again real fast!

8. I'm with you, CTYankee
And I'm in NJ and I'm a public worker and I belong to a union.

We would kick his fat ass so hard he'd be crying in his beer with Arnold.

4. He is something else.
To me, he is NJ. His attitude, his demeanor, the way he talks. When envision NJ, the Chris Christie character comes to mind. He is a lot closer to the Jersey Shore character than he wants to admit.
