House votes to deny Obama healthcare law funds
Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted on Friday to choke off cash to fund President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law, intensifying a fight with Democrats over budget cuts and deficits.

<...>

During late-night debate, the House voted to stop the Obama administration from enforcing new regulations on some types of coal mining and rolled back a gun control law aimed at individuals' multiple purchases of rifles and shotguns.

The House also voted to overturn the Pentagon's decision to close the Joint Forces Command facility in Virginia.

But it rejected Democratic attempts to cap farm subsidies and to close a loophole so oil companies would have to pay up to $53 billion in royalties for drilling projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

6. If we only move a little more right, give in some more, I'm sure they'll work
with us and compromise. They really want to be bipartisan, we just have to help them along some.

7. jackasses.
The Republicans in Congress are just jackasses. I truly hope the Dems can be that blind squirrel that finally finds and acorn and hang this around their necks. Abortion, guns, class warfare, defund healthcare reform that was passed into law, etc. Where the hell is the focus on jobs???? Unfortunately, the Repubs are so much better at spin and framing than the Democrats, I'm worried that this won't damage the Rs as much as it should.

Unfortunately, this Country is getting what if voted for. The Republicans told us what they would do - for anyone that was actually listening instead of being swayed by the advertising in the last election. Poor turnout, poorly informed electorate and this is what we get.

9. Their deficit cutting is bullshit
in this statement alone:

'But it rejected Democratic attempts to cap farm subsidies and to close a loophole so oil companies would have to pay up to $53 billion in royalties for drilling projects in the Gulf of Mexico.'

Seriously? They are passing up $53 BILLION that belongs to the American people?
That is half of the money that they want to cut!

12. You gotta read this too.
House Approves Bill With Massive Spending Cuts After All-Night Session
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/19/house-budget-cuts_n_825405.html

This part gives my some solace:

"Funding for the government runs out on March 4. Obama said on Tuesday he would veto the House version, while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has promised to remove many of the bill's funding cuts. So Saturday's passage makes a government shutdown more likely, not less."

I thought a shutdown was inevitable but the Orange Life Form did say this:

"When we say we're going to cut spending, read my lips: We are going to cut spending." But he later backed off the threat, telling reporters on Friday he would allow for another stop-gap funding bill to prevent government shutdown. Details of that plan will be released "soon enough," he said."

13. Wish We Could Cut Off THEIR Healthcare Funding
I get tired of waking up every day wondering when the next ax will fall. To be getting to an age when the body goes to hell, anyhow, and not one born into any financial comfort zone it's a horror to see these scum bags rake it in with ample coverage yet feel we are the leaches of society. Their entire motto is "let 'em die off".
