Foes seizing on governor's 'idiot' remark (Ohio)
Source: Columbus Dispatch

As demonstrators and counter-demonstrators prepared to mass at the Statehouse today in a debate over collective bargaining for public employees, a new jolt of volatility was added to the mix.

That happened yesterday when it became public that Gov. John Kasich had recently described a Columbus police officer as an "idiot" for giving him a traffic ticket in 2008.

"We're not idiots; we're out enforcing the law that he as governor has asked us to go out and enforce," said Jim Gilbert, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 9, the union representing most central Ohio law-enforcement officers.

Jay McDonald, president of the 26,000-member Ohio FOP, said, "I thought that the comments show the governor doesn't understand what our job is and the dangers our people face. ... Calling them idiots certainly doesn't make their job any easier."

11. If he's anything like Gov. Scott Walker
he's being driven around in a state-owned vehicle by state employees wherever he goes.

2. Kasich is impetuous and immature.
There is no way to predict what he is going to blurt out next. Ohioans made a terrible mistake in choosing this extremely right-wing man-child to lead us.

3. Why would you call those who provide your security idiots
Police and Highway Patrol generally provide security for Governors. I would think that the last thing you would want to do is piss them off.

But it does show Johnny-boy's true colors.

6. Ohio has a history of asshole Govs.
Ohio Governor James Rhodes called out the Ohio National guard to Kent State. May4 1970 they shot unarmed kids with 7.62 fmj into the crowd. I hope everyone of those draft dodging guardsmen rot in hell. ( FYI back in the day the NG was a sure way to stay out of the 'Nam.)

8. The GOP needed to take Ohio in 2010
They need control to effect redistricting.

4. I hope someone in Ohio is archiving this in preparation for the next election

A "highlights reel" including this remark would make even republican voters think twice.
