The HillRepublican: Auto recovery could make Sen. Stabenow harder to beat

A Michigan Republican considering a challenge to Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) said the race could be more difficult if the state's economy improves.
There's newfound optimism in Michigan that Detroit's auto industry is on the rebound after years of decline. That sense was perhaps best captured by Chrysler's two-minute "imported from Detroit" TV ad which aired during the Super Bowl last Sunday.
Stabenow is considered vulnerable and at least one of her potential challengers was in Washington this week making the rounds.
Former Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis attended the Conservative Political Action Conference and took time to meet with Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Since the official plan of the GOP is to govern in such a way that Obama becomes unelectable, it would seem that preventing job creation is their key to success.
