Baramulla, Feb 12: Arrest of two youth sparked massive protests in this north Kashmir town on Saturday, witnesses said.

Police, according to locals, raided the houses of Muhammad Ibrahim Khan at Noor Bagh and Abid Nabi Kantroo at Kakar Hamam this morning and took them along.

As the word about arrests spread in the area youth took to the streets and staged a massive protest demanding the release of arrested youth. Policemen reached on the spot and used force to quell the demonstrators, who retaliated with stones triggering clashes in which at least six vehicles were damaged.

Police later swung into action and pushed the protesters towards the Cement Bridge following which normalcy was restored.
