Hundreds of University of Washington students rallied in Olympia on Friday to protest against education budget cuts.

Students barked loud and clear: they don't want state lawmakers to cut money going to the university.

Sure, they want to keep financial aid and avoid tuition going up, but their message is more than that.

"We want the insitutution to be the best that it can be," said Sarah Reynevelds, a third-year law student.

5. But hey, candy and soda is no longer taxed!
And the wealthy don't have to suffer the yoke of an income tax.

Lots of people are being screwed over by the current budget, but what is the legislature supposed to do? Hopefully as the economy improves, there will be more slack in the budget, but we really need to combat the "Low Taxes Uber Alles" mindset before our infrastructure completely disintegrates.

8. I would have graduated in 1978
had I continued on. Dropped out in 1976.

I lived in McMahon Hall for a few quarters, then in a couple of apartments on 12th Ave. It was an interesting time, wasn't it?
