My concern is that name recognition alone is going to screw us.

he's also known to have fought unionization (decent wages, etc.) for like 40 years.

32. And Hitler loved dogs and children
I think the bad that Coors has done - bankrolling the national GOP for thirty years - more than outweighs any good.

15. Coors is already well known in Colorado
but Salazar is fourth generation Colordoan, longtime public servant and very popular on the Western Slope.

Coors will look like a politically green opportunist - tbh, I just don't see that big a threat. Perhaps I'm over-confident.

19. You are overconfidant.
You have way too much faith in the American public. This is the same populace that elected a Gopher from the Love Boat as a Congressman from Iowa, a former pro wrestler governor of Minnesota, and a Austrian bodybuilder governor of California.

Democrats only hope now is to find some former contestant on Survivor to run against Coors.

38. He was a union leader and CA governor though
Pete Coors just runs a crummy brewery with tasteless TV ads and does commercials with pristine watershed backdrops that have nothing to do with the water that goes into his beer.

I'm willing to give Colorado voters more credit than that - for now anyway.

The asked me my opinion of Coors Inc. along with many questions on how I felt about recycling.

My opinion of Coors was "very negative" BTW.

16. Hopefully his commercials will become an issue
You know, the ones that try to sell his product to people too young to legally drink it using sexually stimulating and degrading images of young women in bikinis with really bad screeching parodies of rock and roll?

Does he approve those commercials? Does he approve of them? Of underage drinking, of the images of beauty and identity he is creating for young people? Does he feel responsible for people who drink and drive because his commercials convince them they will be cool and sexy if they party too hard?

And don't those images disagree with the ultra-rightwing moral dictatorship his party is trying to create?

23. Bravo!
I hope you put this idea in front of the people who can use it. It seems like the Democratic party today just doesn't get it,, it's like you have to hit them over the head with some of the most obvious hypocrisy of the republicans before they see it. I think it is because we are still on the defensive about Monica years after the fact, and I wish dems in office would GET that their post-traumatic penis disorder is hurting our party and our nation. UConn was killing Tennessee last night, and after a while Tennesee got tired of it and really started kicking butt, holding Connecticut to a 12-0 run at one point. They still ended up losing, but at least they fought back. I think today's dems have swallowed every single lie Rove has manufactured about the "American people".

That's what we need to do, ask this Coors guy if promoting sex with "twee-uns" is in line with God's teachings.

25. Coors ads rank right at the top
in terms of sexual innuendo: candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. But of course, Faux also has the raunchiest shows like Temptation Island. Consistency has never been a strength of the Repukes.

31. nothing but a name
i don't see this being an extremely smart choice. Not only is Coors a flippin whack job, but their beer really sucks. I worked at a liquor store for over a year awhile back, and their beer hardly ever sold, and this being in Colorado. The name recognition won't pay because Coors doesn't have a good name association. Salazar is widely respect by most in Co on the east and west slope, and the Hispanic community will come out for him.
Count one senate seat in Colorado in the democratic column.

33. Nothing but a name... and a ridiculous amount of $$$
Coors is most definitely a whack job, but he's got more money than he knows what to do with. And money has gotten whackjobs elected in the past. While I won't ever drink Coors, its evident that some people do, or else they wouldn't be worth billions.

37. So that's what's up with the new Coors ads!
I notice Pete himself is appearing in the newest ones, talking up the qualities of his piss beer. I'd never seen him in Coors commercials before. Probably all deductible, and not subject to campaign finance laws either.
