Bush Blames Media For Hyping `March To War' Before Iraq
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)

Casting about for new events to blame for the sluggish performance of the economy so far in his administration, President George W. Bush Friday blamed news organizations for hyping the prospects of the war with Iraq.

During a brief interchange with reporters following a meeting with his cabinet, Bush was asked if he was surprised that three large tax cuts and 12 rate cuts by the Federal Reserve hadn't done more to get the economy on track. ---

"And then, as you may remember,... we had... a steady drumbeat to war. As I mentioned in my press conference the other day, on our TV screens there was... - on some TV screens there was a constant reminder of the American people - 'March to war.' Now war is not a very pleasant subject in people's minds. It's not conducive for the investment of capital," Bush said.

16. Bush thinks the "investment of capital" is the most important thing
in the macro-economy. The problem is not that we lack investment but that aggregate demand for goods and services has fallen and that businesses are over-capacity in their ability to provide goods and services. Investment will not do those businesses a whole lot of good. Investment may help new businesses get a good start but those new businesses will still need consumers to buy their goods and services.

Their manipulative deceitful game was pretty much transparent from the start. Machevellian strategies and playing on the anxieties of an uninformed populace, kept uninformed by bought out and corporatized media outlets. No accountability, passing the buck, pointing the finger outward. It's not me it's the media, I didn't know about the falsified intelligence it was Tenet. Yeah and Ollie masterminded Irancontra. And it ain't a play that hasn't been played before since bay or pigs. Methodical mind controll. Manufactured consent.

27. FOX News highlighted W's biting the hand that feeds him
It must have done well with the focus groups.

Look if the "media" had done half of its job/duty he would have been out of the race after N.Hampshire let alone having any chance in the general election. They SAVED him on 9/11 and continue to repeatedly proclaim how popular he is ( a self serving cycle if there ever was one) and are already giving him the next election on a platter.

This is probably a move to resell the "liberal media" lie and to pre-emptively attack them before he goes on vacation ( :eyes: ) and the WMD lies will be the stories of news dead August (with plenty of Kobe and child hoax thrown in).

"Comrade Stalin Blames Pravda for mistakenly reporting the non-aggression between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The Hitlerites are now and always have been our mortal enemies and Enemies of the State!"

Remember when obvious transparent lies such as these weren't told, because our leaders had more respect for the intelligence and "bullshit detection" of the American People.

But here in Imperial Amerika, "bullshit detection" is an art going out of style, and is rapidly falling to become the equal of Soviet Bullshit Detection, circa 1940 (not 1980, the Soviet Citizens were far too savvy and distrustful of Commie Lies by then).

Sad.

41. So...the media should deliberately downplay wars of conquest?
Is that what he's saying here? It's the media's job to skew the news so people will feel warm, fuzzy and entrepreneurially bold?

Can someone please pick up on this? It's the duty of the media to report only that which will benefit the making of fucking piles of money by Americans? Is that not just ugly beyond belief?

This is a really important point: it's the duty of the media to cheerlead whatever rampaging folly the king sees fit, and deliberately not cover untidy little Imperialistic Bloodlusts when a few ungrateful foreigners impede our greed by being impaled on the cowcatcher of the gravy train?

Is this a megasickfuck or what?

56. This guy is dumber than lutefisk.
I would not be reminding people of the White House's dragging millions of American's into a war they were protesting against... they tend to get pissed off and vote.

57. Up is down, down is up
Looks like Karl is checking to see how well the mass reprogramming is going in advance of the coming election...

...or maybe its just the logical follow up to the last 2.5 years of policy "shock and awe" (which in "wa on terra" years feels like about 20.5 years).

Enough, please...STOP IT! Your crass ambiguity towards the lost lives of soldiers you sent off to war makes me want to wretch.

58. Same "drumbeat to war" phrase twice in one week
This is not bush; it's Rove's machine responding to the bad press in the two weeks before the "killing" of the sons. I've noticed an increased mention of the term "liberal media" lately, a well proven method to discount any valid news being reported. Discount the news, discount the intelligence, and what the sheeple are left with is our *honest* *folksy* resident.

I am still surprised at the stupidity of the majority following this hypnotic performance.

59. This is from the Jon Stewert "Daily Show" last night!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=109&topic_id=499&mesg_id=499#503

<snip> He said that when Bush blamed cable news for the bad economy, he said that hmm who was the asshole who was leading us to war? He made fun of it being only the 9th solo conference for Bush and he point out the we're all sinners quote about homosexuality. At the end when Bush said he wouldn't stop working until everyone who wanted jubs had them he showed the headline of Bush leaving for his month-long vacation. So good! <snip>

71. He didn't have to beg the media!
They were already hot to go. They had their 'March To War' graphics and special theme music ready around Labor Day, I'll bet.

The Murkin Whore Media wanted the war's ratings as badly as Chee-Knee wanted those "rebuilding" contracts for Halliburton!

:grr:
dbt

BTW, has anyone heard any of the networks taking issue with bu$h's 'March' remarks??

69. And the voices of the millions of protestors?
Restricted to illegal free speech zones while Bush subjected us to a daily parade of bloody warmongers with erections pounding their chests in a frenzy of bloodlust?

Well, now they have their pound of flesh. The blood is on their hands, not mine or all the others who raised our voices to try and prevent the madness. I took to the streets. I wrote. I called my congressman and senators every day for a month. Then the Repubs told me I was unpatriotic. They targetted anyone who dared speak out. They seemed pretty proud of their actions then. In fact all the way up until the day the looting started, Bush and many Americans (the majority we were told over and over again)puffed with false pride thumped each other on the backs and engaged in an orgy of jingoistic victory celebrations culminating with the flight deck triumphal antics of the fearless sockmonkey leader.

Bush is right. The media led the drumbeat to war. But they were marching right behind a smirking ass waving a flag and a badge he took from a dead hero's mother.

Bush's revisionist history, his lies, distortions and incredible gall convince me that he truly is mentally disabled. A normal man would feel the need to blush. The fact that he doesn't speaks volumes.

72. Can it be? Does Shep on Faux have that much power???
Just who sends our men and women off to fight in wars? Is it our docile Congress? Mr. Flightsuit in Charge of the Sock Drawer? Oh I know...the MEDIA authorizes who we go to war with!! Dam, I should have figured that one out a long time ago.

So its (in this order);

1. FauxNews
2. Commander Pop-N-Jay
3. Useless Congress
