Kerry turns tables, hits Bush for 'flips and flops'
Democratic challenger John Kerry, branded a waffler by his Republican opponents, turned the tables today, accusing President Bush of "flips and flops" on the economy and national security.

Greeted by a small group of protesters shouting and clapping together rubber beach sandals called flip-flops, Kerry rebuked them, saying, "Obviously some young Republicans are proving that they're very rude and they have no manners. They don't want to hear the truth."

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee charged Bush and his Republican allies with misleading the country on the Iraq war, taxes and jobs. The four-term Massachusetts senator also said they had been dishonest about his record.

"You want to talk about flips and flops?" he asked hundreds of supporters at a rally in Cincinnati. "This president said one day Condoleezza Rice is not going to testify and the next day she is going to testify."

DU has been screaming about this for weeks. The Bush* Administration wrote the book on flipping and flopping.

3. I see your flip and raise you flop
He should really hit the core issues though...there is plenty of flip-flop fodder there re: national security, debt, foreign policy, etc.

The thing is, most people see Condoleezza Rice's testifying as a good thing.

But I'm glad we're hearing from him.

5. GD2004 thread with first-hand accounts; also video here
This thread about the Cincinnati rally in GD2004 is very interesting:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=494418

There's a link on this page to watch part of the speech:

http://www.wcpo.com/news/2004/local/04/06/kerry.html

The insults hurled from the "Young Republicans" begin in the first quarter of the video above; they reoccur about halfway through his speech, which is when he stops to call them rude.

10. Should we throw waffels at Bush??
Good that he used Bush's flip-flopping to quiet the pubescent repubicans, but I agree I am waiting to hear a broadening of Kerry's policies on other subjects..

13. Compared to DEAN......This is quite a delayed reaction. Better now
than never though.

He needs to swing back and/or set the pace.
Waiting till the thugs say something and then retaliating, just won't motivate the masses!

But keep working Kerry......I guess you're all we got.

17. Bush isn't a flip-flopper.
He's always on the wrong side of any issue.

Doesn't matter what the issue is, he'll pick the wrong side. If the situation changes, he'll pick a new wrong side.

It's been said that "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". However, in Bush's case, "The small minded hobgoblin is consistently a fool"
