Front-page protests at Hungary's new media law which threatens fines for 'unbalanced coverage' Read

Newspapers mounted front-page attacks in Hungary on the government's new censorship laws - which have been introduced just as the country takes on the EU presidency.

Nepszabadsag, the country's most popular broadsheet announced in its headline: 'The freedom of the press in Hungary has come to an end'
The headline was also printed in all 23 official languages of the European Union.

And Nepsava carried an illustration of a man, taken to represent the government, wielding giant sledgehammer.

1. and definitely no "unbalanced coverage" allowed
of the fact that Hungary just nationalized everyone's private retirement accounts to fund a failing government
