Rumsfeld Backs More Iraq Troops if Needed
where oh where are we going to get the military to protect our home base if all are shipping over seas?

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Tuesday that American military commanders in Iraq (news - web sites) will get additional troops if they request more soldiers to fight a growing Shiite uprising.

Commanders are studying ways they might increase troops in Iraq if should violence spread much more widely, a senior officer said Monday.

Rumsfeld, at an appearance in Norfolk, Va., said that he and President Bush (news - web sites) frequently ask commanders in Iraq if they need more troops. He said commanders on the scene, including Gen. John Abizaid, the head of U.S. Central Command, are constantly reviewing the situation.

1. Yes, we frequently ask commanders if they need more troops
and yes, our Bradley fighting vehicles are frequently blown up by roadside bombs, it's a common issue we deal with, and yes, we often invade other countries without justification, inciting mass unrest, thousands of deaths, etc., nothing out of the ordinary, and, and...

7. LOL
How he gets away with stating outrageous plans as simple facts, as if there can be no debate, and they are all done deals, is beyond me.

The media in this country isn't just bought and paid for by the junta. They are profane.

2. Major reversal this week
We need to avenge the killing of some failed actor turned mercenary, so it's OK now to start a draft. Reminds me of the Arch Duke Ferdinand

3. Rumsfeld had all the dissenting generals replaced.
Abizaid knows to toe the party line and say "we have plenty of troops". General Shinseki and others tried to tell Rumsfeld what we were getting into but know-it-all Rumsfeld told them it's time to retire.
