8. It was an accident. Not vehicular homicide.
She'll probably be cited, but that's just a guess. I don't know how Texas works in terms of accidential crash.

13. Same with me - all kids have to be buckled
but, I will say that I had my son (3) and nephew (4 and big for his age) in the backseat last week. My son is still in a convertible car seat and I don't have any problems with him. But my nephew is in a booster and the little guy unbuckled himself. I didn't realize it until we got home.

11. Not using seat belts
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 09:05 PM by howaboutme
means too stupid to serve the public in the Texas Senate. I don't care about her Party registration and I don't care about partisanship either when it should be about common sense.

Any driver involved in an accident where passengers are not wearing seat belts needs to face serious liability. My car does not move unless passengers are buckled up as it is the law in PA.

17. She was sponsoring a bill about child restraints
Ironically, this Senator is sponsering a bill in the Senate that relates to the enforcement of proper child restraints.

Apparently, alcohol is being investigated as a factor also.

21. I hope the TX state troopers performed an alcohol and/or drug test on the driver.....
of this vehicle. Having said that, I hope that these substances were not involved
in this horrible tragedy.

23. We have a way of really rubbing the seatbelt lesson in, here in Aust.
(My part anyways.) Driver loses 3 points (of a maximum of 12) demerit points off their license for every unrestrained occupant. And then for some added salt, any licensed drivers amongst the unrestrained, cop a fine and 3 points all of their very own.

If the senator was on the road with unrestrained passengers, right side or wrong, SHE WAS IN THE WRONG.
