Gingrich: Let Rich People Decide How Long Their Tax Cuts Last

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, disgraced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich proposed an odd method for determining how long to extend the Bush tax cuts for the very wealthy — ask the very wealthy how long they want them:

What Republicans ought to do is say to people who create jobs, how many years does the tax code need to be extended for you to make an investment decision? I mean, the goal’s not to have an annual extension of the current tax code, and then have every business in the country trapped saying, “I don’t know. I want to make a 20 year investment in a factory.” … There is a number, but I would have the business leadership of the country describe the number.

1. Why not just ask them if they really want to pay any taxes at all
Then ask them how many jobs they are going to guarantee.....

25. Excellent, Angry Dragon.
We received a call recently asking us whether we would support Newt Gingrich in a run for president, and if not, why not. Wow!

How about his low IQ for one thing.

Since that call, I have arrived at a theory as to why Sarah Palin has been given so much play in the media. It's because she is so stupid that she makes Newt Gingrich look, well at least a little smarter even though it would be impossible to make him look really smart.

Oh, Newt, man of shallow thought and putrid spirit . . . . God forbid that America should fall under his evil spell.

DUers, whether you believe in God or not, please pray unceasingly that Newt Gingrich be prevented from ever running for a public office again.

9. Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, Ohio, people were lining up....
....by the hundreds to get free winter coats.

I saw the story on the Weather Channel today. People who can't afford to buy winter coats for their families, here, in the United States.

Let's see, how did the first few lines of Charlie's book go?
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness...

History does have a habit of repeating itself.

37. I had a very similar thought, but it's everyone else but the rich. The goal of
plut5onomy is making the rich richer. The method is by impoverishing everyone else more and more. Impoverishing people who are already poor doesn't yield much. Those who are now comfortable have the most to offer the rich. So, they are the most at risk from the rich.

So, if you ain't poor now, wait.

12. I think that's a good idea. Let everyone decide for themselve how much tax they'd like to pay.
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 02:29 PM by mudplanet
Let me see...if I don't have to pay any taxes for the next ten years, I might be able to invest in ten thousand dollars of Apple stock. I'm sure my country will be better off if I do that rather than pay my share for the roads, the schools, the libraries, the administration of services, the fire department, the police, etc.

Hell, nobody asked me if I wanted to opt into those services. Just assuming that I do is dictatorship. All participation in the tax system should be voluntary.

17. Gingrich Is Saying This To Reinforce the Meme: Tax Cuts Create Jobs
When there' no evidence supporting this meme any where. Job creation is a function of demand for goods and services plus labor cost. The reason why we have sluggish job creation is because (1) demand is down and (2) labor costs are cheaper in China and India.

Thus, even if we could re-ignite demand, that may not lead to stronger job creation.

18. The wealthy have not created jobs, in fact, they are a reason why
jobs have disappeared. Gingrich is, and always has been a fool.

How many jobs has Gingrich created, he's wealthy...(and pals around with that other slug Grover Norquist)...both of them are merely cheap bastards that want everyone else to pay, so they can gain more and enjoy the fruits of other people's labors.

They believe themselves to be "above" the rest of us...I say grease the wheels of labor from the fat in his head...it'll last for decades...:grr:

I wouldn't waste my urine putting him out if he were on fire.

21. Trickle Down
is the code name for Tinkle On and we are just about to get 'tinkled on' again. All one has to do it look at the graphs and figures since the tax cuts for the elite began to see just how many jobs have been lost, how much the middle class income has stagnated and how much richer the rich have become. And, they still believe we don't get it. Well, guess what!!!

24. So the Newt (who benefits $247,352 from the rich tax gift) wants to decide???
Anyone who benefits from this additional bonus tax give-back should be restricted from speaking about it.

Full disclosure. According to Congressman Grayson's analysis, the Newt will receive a bonus of over $247,000 from the rich-only tax break.

Let the Newt tell us how he will use (and has used) that gift to spur on the economy.

Otherwise, "SHUT UP, Newt."
