Tea partiers' views far from others

AP-SPIN METER: Tea partiers' views far from others
By ALAN FRAM, Associated Press
AP

Tea party backers fashion themselves as "we the people," but polls show the Republican Party's most conservative and energized voters are hardly your average crowd.

According to an Associated Press-GfK Poll this month, 84 percent who call themselves tea party supporters don't like how President Barack Obama is handling his job -- a view shared by just 35 percent of all other adults. Tea partiers are about four times likelier than others to back repealing Obama's health care overhaul and twice as likely to favor renewing tax cuts for the highest-earning Americans.

Exit polls of voters in this month's congressional elections reveal similar gulfs. Most tea party supporters -- 86 percent -- want less government intrusion on people and businesses, but only 35 percent of other voters said so. Tea party backers were about five times likelier to blame Obama for the country's economic ills, three times likelier to say Obama's policies will be harmful and twice as apt to see the country on the wrong track.

...............

The poll also shows sharp differences between the tea party and the 7 in 10 independents who don't support the tea party, a group both parties will target in 2012. Tea party backers take a far more negative view of Obama and his agenda than those independents do and are far likelier to think favorably of the GOP and unfavorably of Democrats.

2. What's more surprising...
is the ~15% of tea partiers who DO support Obama, increased government "intrusion," etc.

Maybe they're at the wrong party?

4. Good information
I think it has been pretty obvious that most of the teaparty crowd hate Obama, and want less government in their lives, except of course they don't want anyone to touch any of "THEIR" government ran programs like SS, medicare, any kind of disability payments they are getting, or anything else they may get from the government.

From what I have seen another problem in the teaparty crowd is they don't all agree on many other things. Some of them are really, really far out on the right, the Glen Beck crowd who don't really have a clue as to what is going on because all they can do is repeat the Glen Beck talking points, which are so damned crazy it's scary! Others seem to want to see real change in D.C., but they allowed the right to paint Obama as NOT being able to make any change, even though it was the republicans that did everything they could to stop Obama from making any of those changes.

What will be interesting is to see how many of them start protesting when they see the republicans aren't going to keep any of their promises they made to get control of the house.

6. 84% who call themselves tea party supporters don't like how Barack Obama is handling his job?
So does that mean there are some Tea Baggers that support him?

10. no...they are psycho liberal haters.. there is nothing rational about them they are lost in an
Apriori Loop.. where the Conclusion comes first and the Premise follows.. where ever you reply to their mindless angry rants they come to the same conclusion..

if you disagree in any way at any level you become the target of their rage.. because only a stinking socialist Liberal would not see the their glaring truth.

9. I'm about half way thru a Cambridge history Professors book on the tea party vs history, they
shamelessly just make up crap to attempt to validate their daily talking points from their Fascist Cleptocratic Corportist handlers.

the book is fun, informative and interesting.. but not such an in-depth and intence read as my last book.. Serge Trifkovic's 'Sword of the Prophet'

http://www.amazon.com/Whites-Their-Eyes-Revolution-American/dp/0691150273/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1290552249&sr=1-1#_
"snip...Jill Lepore, Harvard historian and New Yorker staff writer, offers a wry and bemused look at American history according to the far right, from the "rant heard round the world," which launched the Tea Party, to the Texas School Board's adoption of a social-studies curriculum that teaches that the United States was established as a Christian nation. Along the way, she provides rare insight into the eighteenth-century struggle for independence--the real one, that is. Lepore traces the roots of the far right's reactionary history to the bicentennial in the 1970s, when no one could agree on what story a divided nation should tell about its unruly beginnings. Behind the Tea Party's Revolution, she argues, lies a nostalgic and even heartbreaking yearning for an imagined past--a time less troubled by ambiguity, strife, and uncertainty--a yearning for an America that never was.

The Whites of Their Eyes reveals that the far right has embraced a narrative about America's founding that is not only a fable but is also, finally, a variety of fundamentalism--anti-intellectual, antihistorical, and dangerously antipluralist...snip"

11. I think they need a homeland of their own - preferably far away
Can we give them all of Alaska or Texas - and repatriate non tea partiers there who want out? (Yes I know how well that worke in India and Pakistan.)

More seriously, it does suggest the nightmare that starts this January - their new representatives likely believe that they are right to shut down the government in the midst of an economically fragile time period.

12. Hilarious!
The teabaggers favor tax cuts to billionaires twice as much as the average American.

They're all such victims, held down by Librul evil, otherwise they'd be millionaires!
