Sarah Palin’s 16-year-old daughter used homophobic slurs to attack a Facebook user who claimed her mother’s reality TV show was ‘failing’.

Willow Palin reacted with fury to the comments, branding the poster, named as Tre, a ‘f**got’ and ‘so gay’.

Tre, who is believed to have gone to school with the Palin children had updated his status to read: ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska is failing so hard right now,’ TMZ reported.

Willow’s immediate response was: ‘Haha your so gay. I have no idea who you are, But what I’ve seen pictures of, your disgusting … My sister had a kid and is still hot.’ She added: ‘Tre stfu. Your such a f**got.’

Elder sister Bristol, who is currently taking part in Dancing With The Stars, also waded into the row, telling Tre: ‘You’re running your mouth just to talk sh*t.’

I wouldn't give her a pass - two reasons.

One, the Palins, whatever else they are, are not SOCIALLY stupid. Sarah wouldn't be where she is if she didn't have the social intelligence to know perfectly well how people respond to her, intellectual gaffes and all, and stay pretty much on top of it.

Two, I know too many teenagers who have every excuse to be that dumb, but choose not to be. I am assuming, lacking better evidence, that she chose every word carefully for its meaning and effect among her peer group. The fact that some uptight liberals in other states don't like it - feh.

Really, people are grasping for straws here and doing exactly what I don't want to see: CONTINUING to bring attention to the Palins. As much as I hate Sarah, this is just a 16 year old being a 16 year old. Regarding the point you made. If you think it's OK for 16 year old kids to use language like she's been using, or worse, then that's a sad reflection on your neighborbood and how you think children should be brought up. Call me old fashioned if you will, but swearing and using bigoted slang is not OK for a 16 year old and is a sad reflection on how she has been brought up.
