Women in Congress Endorse Pelosi for Leader.
Source: nyt/ap

Thirty-one House women say Nancy Pelosi should keep her spot as Democratic leader in the next Congress.

In a letter to other members of the party's caucus Friday, the women lawmakers said Pelosi has borne the brunt of "unfair criticism and attacks." They said the party needs the Californian to fight against Republican attempts to roll back the health care overhaul and other measures.

4. I agree! I have issues with her, and she IS divisive. But that's because she's effective!

She has done a great job. Since when does one party let the other party pick its leaders?

Time and time again, Pelosi has rounded up votes of Democrats in the House to get them all behind one bill or another. That's like rounding up a warehouse full of cats. She has done a remarkable job. She should continue doing it, and let the Republicans cry about it.

6. Why should anyone get behind Pelosi...
or behind Hoyer either. Neither has a spine and Nancy managed to take all the important stuff off the table.

During her reign, she enjoyed her visits to her mansion in SF, disliked the protestors who showed up there, and generally managed to do nothing with the power and momentum that the voters provided her with.

In other words, she and Hoyer failed us all.

14. Your post hits all the Republican talking points.
The "mansion" visits, the disappointing "the base," not doing a good job, etc., etc.

It's really not a matter of opinion. She has been effective, more so than any other speaker in history. Democrats are by nature rarely "good soldiers," and rarely fall in line. She got them to do that for cap and trade, the health care bill, and a host of other things that the Senate was unable to accomplish.

And, oh, BTW, before you crucify her for the healthcare bill, remember that the House version has a public option in it at first, and she got the votes for it.

Sounds like you just want Conyers to be the minority leader. If so, just say so. You don't need to trash the others. Just state your cause. Others like myself who support Pelosi aren't trashing Conyers.
