Nazi accusations roil Ariz. campaign
Source: Politico

Democrats are accusing Arizona GOP congressional candidate Jesse Kelly of “Nazi ties” because he accepted an endorsement from a controversial anti-immigration group — and Kelly’s campaign is responding with equal fury, saying there is a “special place in hell” for people who make allegations of anti-Semitism.

At issue is an endorsement from the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, or ALIPAC, an anti-immigration group that Arizona Sen. John McCain’s spokesman condemned as “backed by white supremacists, neo-Nazis and anti-Semites” after it endorsed McCain’s primary opponent, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth. A Monday story in The Hill newspaper pointed out the ties.

National Democrats seized on the news. “Another Young Gun candidate, another Nazi tie — it should come as no surprise,” said Andy Stone, a spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in a press release Monday morning. Stone was referring to Rich Iott, an Ohio GOP congressional candidate who has dressed as a Nazi in World War II reenactments and is a member of the NRCC’s program to advance candidates in competitive districts.

The ADL, a nonpartisan group originally founded to fight anti-Semitism and bigotry, has pointed to extremist groups’ support for ALIPAC. “White supremacists and anti-Semites have promoted the group by engaging in activity on its behalf and posting links to ALIPAC's Web site on their own Web sites and forum,” the ADL wrote in a 2009 press release on the group. The ADL names Stormfront, Vinlanders Social Club, and European Americans United — white supremacist groups — among ALIPAC supporters.

Anti-Illegal Immigration Group Denies Ties to White Supremacists, Nazis

http://washingtonindependent.com/101098/anti-illegal-immigration-group-denies-ties-to-white-supremacists-nazis

It may be a bad time to be endorsed by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, or ALIPAC. The group is once again being accused of ties to white supremacist groups and Nazism, this time by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC released a statement Monday alleging that Jesse Kelly, a Republican candidate for Congress from Arizona, “has doggedly pursued the support of a group with known white supremacist, anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi ties.” Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the committee noted, tied ALIPAC to white supremacists when the group endorsed his primary opponent in March, while the Anti-Defamation League has accused the group of unfairly demonizing illegal immigrants.

ALIPAC denies having any ties to white supremacists, Nazism or anti-Semitism. “This attack comes while there is zero evidence that ALIPAC or any officers of ALIPAC have ever sought or intentionally received any support from such groups!” the group wrote in an email to its supporters today.

Kelly’s campaign isn’t happy with the characterization either. “There is a special place in hell for those who would slander combat veterans who would have gladly been mutilated, subjected to chemical weapons and killed in defense of our freedom,” Kelly campaign manager Adam Kwasman told Politico.

As Republican candidates often sought to prove their conservative values during primaries, endorsements from ALIPAC were doled out only to candidates considered toughest on illegal immigration. But the group backs some Democrats as well, although all are incumbents and most are Blue Dogs: Reps. Jim Marshall (D-Ga.), John Barrow (D-Ga.), Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), Gene Taylor (D-Miss.), Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) and Pete DeFazio (D-Ore.).

1. Mr. Kelly, where is the evidence
“There is a special place in hell for those who would slander combat veterans who would have gladly been mutilated, subjected to chemical weapons and killed in defense of our freedom,”

People can say anything, but as is already known, no one can say what they would or wouldn't do in combat or if captured and made a POW. For an example just look at the difference between how John McCain acted when he was captured, and how James Stockdale acted when he was captured!!!

And why is it that people automatically think that just because you throw the word "veteran" into the mix that questioning the beliefs or agenda of those veterans is taboo?

So, we have a group of "combat" veterans, who may be white supremecist and anti-semetic, why is that considered to be slander? And if it was slander, why didn't they sue the McCain campaign?
