Obama pleads with Democrats in Ohio, warns against GOP gains
Source: CNN

Columbus, Ohio (CNN) -- President Obama pleaded with Democratic voters to keep hope alive and warned about Republicans making congressional gains in an Ohio speech Sunday that comes just weeks before the midterm elections.

* * *
The president focused mostly on the economy Sunday, arguing that his policies had staved off a second Great Depression and warning that a Republican return to power would revive the economic policies of the early 2000s.

Striking a populist tone, Obama said such policies would favor powerful corporations over middle-class Americans. Republican gains would lead to rollbacks in federal health care and education assistance, he said, while wealthy Americans would reap tax cuts and big companies would enjoy lighter regulation.

"They'll tell you its the ownership society, but basically it's 'You're on your own,'" Obama said, at what was officially a Democratic National Committee rally. "If you lose your job, you're on your own. If your child doesn't have health care, tough luck, you're on your own."

The corporate news narrative always has Republicans "rallying" the base. However, with President Obama, these same actions are characterized as "begging" or "pleading," or as "lecturing" or "scolding." Democrats and Republicans are simply framed differently by the corporate media.

15. I rec'd for the comments as well. Always framed differently.
Republican's framed as aggressive and genuine.
Democrat's framed as weak and insincere.

16. CBS - "Sarah Palin to GOP: "Man Up" and Support Tea Party Candidates"
Case in point, where is the corporate media references to "lecturing" and "scolding" with Republican women telling Republicans to act like men? Why can't someone woman up?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20019948-503544.html?tag=cbsContent

Former Alaska governor and Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin kicked off a Tea Party Express bus tour on Monday with a plea for Republicans to "man up" and support the movement.

"Hey, politicians who are in office today you, some of you, need to man up and spend some political capital to support the Tea Party candidates instead of doing this, waiting to see how everything is going to go," Palin said from Reno, Nevada. "You know that Tea Party candidates are constitutionalists that got the common sense. So, some of these politicians, the big-wigs within the machine, they're driving me crazy because they're too chicken to come and support the Tea Party candidates." (Watch a video of some of Palin's remarks here.)

It's no coincidence the nationwide bus tour, which hits 30 cities in the next 15 days before the midterm elections, started in Reno -- ground zero of this year's midterms. The Tea Party Express, a Sacramento-based group, has spent more than $1 million to defeat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada's Democratic senator, and elect Republican candidate Sharron Angle.

Angle could not appear at the bus tour kickoff since the Tea Party Express has made independent expenditures on her behalf, and political campaigns are by law prohibited from coordinating with independent groups.

Still, Palin's words echoed Angle's remarks in a debate last week, when she told Reid to "man up."

13. Good question.
My utter disgust for their cowardice has reached a peak. Perhaps I should stop posting here. Posts critical of Obama's insane right-wing bullshit get deleted anyway.

7. Obama's had plenty of time and capitol
Obama has had plenty of time to demonstrate that he really is difficult and is willing to fight for the average person instead of the corporations. He continues to demonstrate failure and lack of backbone.

Why wasn't he working the blue dogs this hard?

Why every time he has discretionary power of his office does he choose the poor choices?

Don't plead with voters! GET OUT THERE AND DEMONSTRATE YOU DESERVE OUR SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
