Gunmen in Pakistan torch nearly 30 NATO fuel tankers
Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - Gunmen in southwestern Pakistan set fire to nearly 30 tankers carrying fuel for NATO troops in Afghanistan on Saturday, an official said, two days after the United States apologized to Pakistan for a cross-border air raid that killed two Pakistani soldiers.

Yes, more.

More at the link. By my unofficial count that brings the toll to almost one hundred and fifty tankers set on fire in less than a fortnight. That is a staggering amount of destruction of material in such a short period of time.

Aside from the lost lives, which are irreplaceable of course, the pricetag on each of those destroyed tankers must be close to $100k if not more.

I want to say I heard we have something like 600 in the circuit, now a little under 500. I was also reading enough of those tankers get blown up and we...get this...we just have to leave. Cause you can only throw so much money at a problem like that until you have to have a humvee guarding each tanker and then what's the point of giving even more money to Pakistan if you can't get any security support from them?

5. with each and every success like this, they recruit more and become emboldened

seems to me they have started to figure out that if you want to cut off the war engine, you pinch the fuel line.

simple enough and they won't stop now that they've learned that it is working
