Rape case against WikiLeaks founder dismissed
The Associated Press
Wednesday, August 25, 2010; 9:31 AM

STOCKHOLM -- A Swedish prosecutor says she will continue investigating an accusation of molestation against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange but has dismissed another case that was initially labeled a suspected rape.

Assange has denied both allegations.

Chief Prosecutor Eva Finne said Wednesday she had questioned the woman who had filed the rape complaint and decided that there were no grounds to suspect Assange of any type of crime in that case.

In the other case, which involved a different woman, Finne said the "suspicion of molestation remains" and that Assange would be questioned in the investigation.

1. A good investigative reporter would be able to ferret out the CIA link to the accusations...
...unfortunately, AP doesn't have any.

3. Australian intelligence warned WikiLeaks of 'dirty tricks'
Australian intelligence services warned WikiLeaks of "dirty tricks" before Swedish authorities issued a short-lived arrest warrant for founder Julian Assange over a rape claim, he said Monday.

"We were warned on the 11th of August by Australian intelligence that we should expect this sort of thing," Assange said in a telephone interview with broadcaster Al-Jazeera from a secret location in Sweden.

Assange - whose whistleblower website is embroiled in a row with the Pentagon over the release of thousands of secret U.S. documents on the Afghan war - faced allegations from two women in Sweden of rape and molestation.

Prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest on Friday night on the rape claim but abruptly withdrew it the following day saying that new information had come to light.

4. This is the same crap they did to

Michael Jackson. The lame$tream media helped them and the taint remains. Facts be damned.

Anyone who has any power to get the truth out there and change things (with worldwide reknown and popular music or wikileaks) - the order is to "destroy". You dare deign to upset the status quo that those in power and control benefit the most from - and they will destroy you. ITS. WHAT. THEY. DO.

THIS is one of their favorite ways to do it. Conspiracy theory? Oh really? Why would it be so when they do it to Jackson but not when they do it to Assange? Jackson is black? They BOTH have/had the power to educate and change people's hearts and minds from the "conventional" propaganda that our government wants us to believe. And Michael Jackson OWNED the Beatles. How DARE him! Pfft. They did the same shit to MLK. FBI crawling all over his business trying to find something - anything - to bring him down.

Oh. But. Really. It's all just conspiracy theory. Riiiiiight. Just ignore it.

5. contrary to some reports it is NOT SEXUAL molestation
The prosecutor, Eva Finne, made it clear in her statement that the allegations by the first woman (rape, possible sexual molestation) were entirely dismissed whereas the allegation of "ofredande" (molestation, assault) by the second woman (Anna Ardin) is still being investigated.

What "ofredande" means in the Swedish Penal Code (in contrast to "sexuellt ofredande"):

Swedish penal code chapter 4 (Crimes against Liberty and Peace), section 7:

A person who physically molests or by discharging a firearm, throwing stones, making loud noise or other reckless conduct molests another, shall be sentenced for molestation to a fine or imprisonment for at most one year. (Law 1993:207)

Statement by the prosecutor

Several English language news outlets either don't see the need to make this distinction or even falsely claim the pending investigation is over "sexual molestation". Given the fact that sexual offenses carry a special stigma, especially in the US (and apparently in Sweden), I can't help but get the feeling that the smear campaign is still ongoing.

(Some German papers, OTOH, did point out the difference and found it odd that Ms Finn did not explain in more detail why there is no longer a sexual aspect to the allegations.)

12. so the actually molestation wasn't sexual? He could have molested her by throwing stones or firing
a gun but had no sex involvement?

WikiLeaks founder cleared of sex allegations
Posted 8m ago

STOCKHOLM (AP) — WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange no longer faces sex abuse charges in Sweden after a prosecutor decided Wednesday to investigate only one of two complaints against him, and not as a sexual offense.

Assange — who has denied both accusations — is still suspected of molesting a woman on Aug. 13, but molestation is not a sex crime under Swedish law, said Karin Rosander, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority. It covers a wide range of offenses, including reckless conduct or inappropriate physical contact with another adult, and can result in fines or up to one year in prison.

Chief Prosecutor Eva Finne formally closed another case involving a woman who claimed Assange had raped her. Finne had dismissed the rape charge over the weekend and recalled a short-lived arrest warrant. She decided Wednesday that the case couldn't be prosecuted as any other type of sex crime either.

"The investigation is therefore closed in regard to this complaint since there is no suspicion of a crime," Finne said in a statement.

14. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange still being investigated over one charge – prosecutor
Source: The Guardian UK

Investigators have not released details about either case, though a police report obtained by the Associated Press shows both women had befriended Assange in connection with a seminar he gave in Stockholm on August 14.

The report shows they filed their complaints together six days later.

This looks very bizarre as both women met him at the seminar and then filed the complaint together.
I wonder if the CIA planted two sexpots to lure him in then scream rape to attempt to defame him.

23. Video of presentation by Assange - the two women we heard from are supposedly in the audience
Seems like a smooth and capable guy. I particularly liked the poignant remarks on Judith Miller, when he answers the question how Wikileaks verify the authenticity of the material they publish.

http://svtplay.se/v/2118877/seminarium_med_wikileaks_grundare

The woman who started all this is Anna Ardin, apparently on the podium to the right (addressed by the introductory speaker as "Anna"), during the question and answer session she walks around with the microphone.
