BEIJING, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- China's People's Liberation Army is to send 1,000 tents and other emergency equipment to Pakistan's armed forces to aid the country's flood relief work, the Ministry of National Defense announced Friday.

The relief materials, including 69 sets of machines such as generators, sludge-cleaning and water purification devices, would be airlifted to Pakistan "in days," said a statement released by the ministry.

On Thursday, China sent relief goods worth 50 million yuan (7.4 million U.S. dollars) to Pakistan, including 1,200 tents, 30 tonnes of rations, 23,800 blankets, 1,000 generators as well as medicines, bottled water and water purification equipment.

An estimated 54.4 million Pakistanis have been affected by torrential rains and floods since late July, and more than 2,000 people have died.

So, China are being very helpful even though they are having their own terrible natural disasters. I think it's a great and wonderful thing when neighbors help each other out like this even if they're having such extreme problems of their own to contend with..

1. And no troops and secret police coming in along with the aid: good for China.
The US could learn a lesson!

4. We don't know that ... China could be sending some nukes
like Pakistan's existing nukes made in China.

2. It's actually heart-warming
To see countries all coming together to help those in need in other countries, even when those coming to give aid have their own problems.

3. The Chinese have been quietly doing some things that we
might learn some lessons from. Instead of, eg, stirring up trouble in countries like Venezuela in order to get their oil, the Chinese have simply signed contracts with the Venezuelan Government to buy what they need. What a unique idea, no wars, no invasions, no stealing of resources and impoverishing the people.

I wondered if they would get involved in Pakistan. Especially since they are having their own troubles with massive mudslides. Glad to see the world reaching out to the people of Pakistan.
