Romanoff goes all in, sells house and loans campaign $325,000
Source: Denver Post

Updated: Loan to campaign is $325,000.

Andrew Romanoff has officially gone all-in for his U.S. Senate campaign, selling his Washington Park house and loaning the effort $325,000.

Romanoff, the former Democratic speaker of the House in Colorado, sold the bungalow to a neighborhood developer. He’ll put the proceeds and cash from savings into his bid to unseat Sen. Michael Bennet in the Aug. 10 primary, a bid severely lagging Bennet’s $7.5 million fundraising total.

While political observers said they considered the loan a desperate move in an underfunded campaign, Romanoff described the move with the mixture of defiance and humor that has marked his underdog effort.

“I’m never home anyway,” said Romanoff, who has lived in Washington Park since the late 1990s. “Plenty of Americans are taking a lot bigger hit than me. I spend a lot of hours asking other people to do the same.”

Romanoff also couldn’t help using the opportunity for new digs at Bennet, who has received most of the party endorsements and more than $1.3 million in cash from PACs. Romanoff has sworn off all PAC money for his current campaign.

This is it, people. We NEED Andrew in. He's sacrificing himself, while Bennet gets his campaign funding from out of state donors and lobbyist. I voted for him this morning via mail ballot.

If you wish to contribute money to help his campaign, do so at http://www.andrewromanoff.com

2. Nope, he's the more progressive of the two Dems
He's refused ALL PAC money.

This is a ballsy move of Andrews, and I hope it pays off.

4. Bill Clinton certainly did.
And I am firing off an angry letter to DeGette for endorsing the crook.

5. Refused? Or no one offered to donate to his likely losing campaign?

I do NOT want you in my thread.

His campaign is fine, thankyouverymuch. The Colorado Democratic Party caucus has Andrew Romanoff at 49.91 Bennet 41.85% Uncommitted 8.16%. As a result, Romanoff gets top billing on the primary ballot, which were mailed out for those who requested mail ballots. The rest will vote two weeks from Tuesday (and early voting as well).

Bennet gets all of his dough from out of state. Andrew Romanoff is running a clean, grassroot supported campaign. Bennet destroys public schools and screws teachers out of their pension funds. Bennet was a defiant pick by Ritter against the consensus of the Colorado Democratic Party choice of Romanoff. I voted for Romanoff. You can't vote for either one because you do not live here in Colorado - when you should be considering Meeks over Crist and Rubio.

9. Now, Hawkeye-X,
Bennet does not get all of his funding from out of state. Some, yes. All, by no means. A quick check of donors at Open Secrets gives lists of thousands of Colorado donors; please don't be so quick to dismiss them. We're all going to be needing each other for November, yes?

11. If his campaign was fine, he wouldn't have to sell his house
People are obviously dubious of the viability of his campaign, that is why he is having trouble convincing them to part with their money.

Rubio and Crist are not an option. I will be supporting the Democratic nominee for the Senate, whether it is Meek or Greene.

19. Franken gave a grand total of $4600 to his campaign:

He didn't have to dump his personal fortune into his campaign because he was able to convince people that he could win.

22. If he's been living in the park he doesn't need the house.
“I’m never home anyway,” said Romanoff, who has lived in Washington Park since the late 1990s.

Must get cold in the winter though.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I wish him luck.
