Iran scientist Shahram Amiri free to leave, US insists
Source: BBC News

The US insists that an Iranian nuclear scientist who has turned up in the country is there voluntarily and is free to leave.

The state department rejected claims by Tehran that Shahram Amiri, who surfaced at a Pakistani embassy building, had been abducted by US agents.

Mr Amiri vanished more than a year ago.

In June, three videos apparently showing him - and containing contradictory information on his whereabouts - emerged.

1. One theory is: Iran threatened his family.
Anyone who thinks this guy will live more than a few days once he gets home to Iran is fooling himself.

5. Iranian man claims US abduction
Source: al jazeera

Speaking to Al Jazeera during a transit stop in Qatar, Shahram Amiri said he was interrogated for 14 months by US agents who refused to allow him contact with his family, but that he "never cracked" and had not revealed any secret information about Iran's nuclear programme.

Washington has denied the claims, saying Amiri had lived freely in the US, had himself reached out to US officials, and was free to come and go.

Iranian authorities have repeatedly said that Amiri was seized by the CIA during a visit to Saudi Arabia last year, and Iran's state television has broadcast the text of what it said was an interview with him in which he claims he was abducted at gunpoint by US agents while attending the Hajj pilgrimage.

"They gave me a shot which made me unconscious and then transferred me to the US onboard a military plane," Amiri said in Tehran, before making allegations that he was tortured during interrogations in the US.

8. I think he reached out to the US...
Told them what he knew, possibly got paid, and then hung out in America for a while...Then he either began to miss his family or more likely he feared for his family so he contacted his leaders in Iran and said he was kidnapped, tortured, held strong and escaped.

I bet he gets the hero treatment at home as he is paraded around for propaganda reasons then he vanishes!

We will see?
