Jon Kyl: Extend Bush Tax Cuts For Wealthy Even If They Add To Deficit
Edited on Mon Jul-12-10 01:13 PM by CLANG
Source: HuffPo

GOP Senate Republican Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) insisted on Sunday that Congress should extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans regardless of their impact on the deficit, even as he and other Republicans are blocking unemployment insurance extensions over deficit concerns.

"You should never raise taxes in order to cut taxes," said the Arizona Senator during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. Surely Congress has the authority, and it would be right to -- if we decide we want to cut taxes to spur the economy, not to have to raise taxes in order to offset those costs. You do need to offset the cost of increased spending, and that's what Republicans object to. But you should never have to offset cost of a deliberate decision to reduce tax rates on Americans."

White House aides immediately seized on the comments. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wrote on Twitter, "Kyl says wealthy need big Bush tax cuts while middle class families are on their own to fend for themselves as a result of Bush economy."

In private, administration officials say that the framing of the argument couldn't be more advantageous: "It's cutting taxes for the wealthy and letting the unemployed to fend for themselves," said one White House ally.

Tell you what Senator, let's split the difference.

Extend half the tax cuts for the rich and seize half of their assets.

insurance is disgusting republican ideology....This is as clear-cut as can be, yet these moronic assholes who work for a living scream at democrats & liberals as the villians....Why?

Because they only believe the pigman, Fox news, etc....why do they hate so much....is the reason because they think people of color or the poor will receive more than them....what about these republican elite sucking up the system giving our tax dollars to the wealthy & corporations for more of their greed and selfishness....that doesn't bother them....Amazing!

10. Why the hell do they always think tax cuts for the rich will help the country?
Perhaps if the economy is rolling, some tax cuts would be used to create jobs because it would be likely to have a profitable result.

But recently it's been demonstrated clearly that decreased taxes, or bailouts, just fatten the personal accounts of the rich.
They do not use their extra cash to help anyone except themselves and perhaps a few rich wall street investment firms.

I am just astounded at how they keep touting selfish greed at the expense of everyone else and the conservative right fully supports this even though it will deprive them as well as everyone else.

My head spins with the idiocy and my stomach churns with the fear that there are more idiots in this country than I care to imagine.

16. The Rich Create Jobs
I mean, right? You have to cut taxes for the rich. When the richest Americans have more money they'll spend and that will result in more jobs and greater wealth for all Americans. That's what happened with the economic stimulus. We gave/loaned money to the wealthy banks and corporations and they shared it with the American people.

Oh, wait, that must have been in the alternate universe.

Edited on Mon Jul-12-10 02:20 PM by activa8tr
very definition of Tea baggers.

They named themselves the wrong name with the use of the word "Tea".... right from the start.

Then they used Tea Bags... and later denied it.

Then they said they were a new version of the Boston Tea Party, but of course the didn't understand what the Boston Tea Party was all about... the "taxation without representation" and all that... they couldn't figure out what that meant, they thought it simply meant that they didn't have anyone, (or almost anyone) as stupid as them in Congress and the White House, (thank GOD!), whereas Bush was repsresenting them very well, (being an older rich white guy who never accomplished anything in life, just like them, and who lived off government $, while being off duty from work most of the time).

So, NO, the Tea Baggers DO NOT and CAN NOT figure stuff out.

18. Deficit busters for the rich? cool,
unemployment for the poor (including my wife)? NO FUCKING WAY!!
That will make the deficit boom!

And now I just lost my job,
We just signed lease papers on a new house, I already paid 2k for the 1st months rent, and now I have no money coming in.

I am scared, really scared.
Lucky I am a good truck driver, but now I have to take the 1st job that comes along, no matter how far from home, how much pay that I will be getting less then my old job.

I hate looking for work, it crushes you to get so many turn downs, and I have 15 years of accident and ticket free driving in a big truck.

Ah well, I am still better off then a lot of folks.

We will get by.

Dave

22. A worse version of "Never raise taxes during a recession."
I thought that the Senate was supposed to represent the people...including those who can't afford the big stuff! But I guess that if you have an R next to your name, only those with an income over six figures exist in your constituency. This "I've got mine, screw everybody else" mentality won't really help the Republicans much.
