48. he joked about the execution on TV
Back during the 2000 election he was on TV mocking an execution. It's ironic because "bunker boy" wets his pants any time their is trouble by. Much like any other spoiled brat that becomes a bully, he acts really tough when hiding behind some one else. He is more like a squirrel, stands up in the tree and makes a lot of noise but runs at the first sign of trouble. Meanwhile working class Americans are dying to keep the oil flowing so the bush team can make more money.

3. Excellent response!
If George Bush thinks his deceptive rationale for going to war is a laughing matter, then he's even more out of touch than we thought. Unfortunately for the President, this is not a joke.

585 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq in the last year, 3,354 have been wounded, and there's no end in sight. Bush Turned White House Credibility into a Joke George Bush sold us on going to war with Iraq based on the threat of weapons of mass destruction. But we still haven't found them, and now he thinks that's funny?

George Bush didn't tell us the truth about the economy, about job loss, about the true cost of his deceptive prescription drug plan, or about the existence of weapons of mass destruction. There's nothing funny about that.

Glad to see he jumped right on it. I also liked how he threw everything else in there at the end. MILLIONS of Americans are NOT laughing.

You know who's laughing, a bunch of rich, soulless Repukes who get their jollies off the pain and suffering of others.

34. Yes, I emailed another story about the joke to a Repub pal
and she flamed me about how my hatred of Bush needed looking into. How can they keep defending Bush? Then she went on to explain the reason Clinton was impeached was because he LIED! Well, look at the lies Bush is telling us. I guess killing close to 600 troops because of a lie is no reason to impeach. I just can't believe it. Why must they always throw in Clinton. Always.

21. Agreed - the whores have no more soul than bush
The mainstream whores have gotten where they are precisely because they are devoid of integrity. They ask what they are told to ask. The report what they're told to report. Their only "truth" is the truth which most pleases their masters.

Check out their guffaws at the end of this clip:

http://images.indymedia.org/imc/washingtondc/media/video/6/9_11laugh.mpg

This moment leaves most decent people feeling quite disturbed. But the reporters just brush it off with a bit of nervous laughter.

The media whores laughing at this is equivalent to people laughing at racist jokes just because they go along with the crowd and don't have the courage of their convictions (or maybe they don't even have any)to stand up to tasteless humor.

36. Can't figure out if this is
suppose to be real or not. If real then it's terrific because it's 100% necessary for Kerry to criticize or otherwise lose a great political opportunity. If he hasn't then I'm getting more and more damn disgusted. There is no reason to hold back and say nothing particularly when we might (gasp) actually get some goddamn (about time) air time coverage of response. The opportunities of the last few days are just marching by and we are letting them be propagandized by the repukes at will. Are we going to say something??---sounds like the past 3 years of silence to me.

Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 08:22 PM by Democat
We want our candidates to be able to joke, and if jokes become off limits, then the media will trash any Democrat who makes a joke.

There are better things to slam Bush over than making a joke.

Humor is on our side, we don't want to ruin that by making any Kerry joke seem hypocritical.

Wait until the right digs up some old Kerry jokes now to make him look bad too.

47. Great point - Kerry shouldn't have to say anything, his surrogates should!
Bush is a master of trying to not look like he's attacking Kerry himself, but letting his supporters do the dirty work.

Our side needs to learn that lesson.

Rather than Kerry directly attacking Bush on this issue, he should have let other Democrats and the 9/11 families go on the attack.

45. World Net daily reporting the Drudge story
adding this:

Snip:

The statement also included a quote from Brad Owens, an Iraq war veteran and apparent Kerry supporter.

"George Bush insulted me as a veteran and as a friend to many still serving in Iraq," Owens said. "This act lowers the dialogue about weapons of mass destruction. War is the single most serious event that a President or government can carry its people into. No weapons of mass destruction have been found and that is no joke - this is for real. This cheapens the sacrifice that American soldiers and their families are dealing with every single day."

46. Good. this story needs legs.
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 12:45 AM by Mari333
I watched the snippet today of him and his wealthy friends mocking and laughing about our kids on the ground over there. I watched the wealthy bastards thinking its oh so funny that they sent our kids over to Iraq, oh so funny that over 600 troops are dead and never coming home, oh so funny that our kids are coming home in the dead of night to Dover in body bags, oh so funny that thousands of civilians and Iraqis are dead and wounded, oh so funny that thousands of soldiers are maimed and lost their limbs are traumatized for life, oh so funny that they used our kids like cannon fodder to make them all wealthy
I sat with my increasingly sick and crying husband and watched it. I thought of our loved one who just emailed me "get us out of this hellhole"
and I realized I was watching the most evil human beings on earth, laughing at our children who they put in harms way, who they killed and maimed, so they could make money.
God has a special place in Hell for these people, if there is a Hell.

52. I just can't get over what a complete ass this man is.
But what's even worse is how the national media put his little stand-up act on the news and laughed along with him. Both ABC and CBS tried to spin this as if we were seeing a more human side of Bush as man capable of laughing at himself. None of them seem to realize how tasteless and unfunny it really is. The man cracking jokes about his ineptitude might have been funny if so many weren't suffering from asinine war mongering.

57. Laughable, but not at all funny
Mr. President, there are more than 500 young American servicemen and servicewomen who fought and died in Iraq -- and they won't ever again laugh at any jokes.

Over 500 young Americans who won't comfort their parents' later years. Over 500 young Americans who won't ever again hold their children. Over 500 young Americans who didn't live to pass on the torch their teachers and coaches and ministers passed to them.

Over 500 Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice on your say so, Mr. President.

They went to Iraq because they -- and Congress, and we, the American people -- took you at your word about the "Weapons of Mass Destruction", Mr. President. And to you safely back in Washington, it's all a joke, Mr. President. An amusing prop for you and the rest of the Washington elite to laugh at.

This administration may be laughable, but it's not funny anymore.
