Four Norwegian soldiers in Afghanistan have been killed in a roadside bomb attack on their vehicle.

The Norwegian military said they were killed while on a mission in Faryab province, in the north of the country.

Sunday's deaths mean nine Norwegian soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.

Norway has a force of about 500 soldiers in Afghanistan, deployed in Kabul and the north, as part of the Nato-led coalition.

All four soldiers were part of the Coastal Ranger Command, which is essentially a marine corps. One of them is the cousin of an anti-war MP.

Meaningless loss of more lives. It seriously pisses me off that my government felt the need to follow the US into this shit. This is one of the reasons i want Norway to leave NATO, which has changed from a defensive atlantic pact into something of a world police used to counter Russian and Chinese interests.
