BP CEO Hayward still in control of Gulf oil spill response (BP clarifies comments)

(CNN) -- BP is clarifying comments Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg made Friday in a broadcast interview, that BP Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward will relinquish control over the company's daily operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

BP spokesman Andrew Gowers tells CNN that Svanberg was just reflecting a June 4 announcement about BP Managing Director Bob Dudley taking over the long-term disaster response. He said Hayward's current role has not changed.

2. It had been pointed out
elsewhere on DU 4 hours ago that this was simply a b-product of the news weeks ago that the Gulf would be a retitled division.

6. WRONG!
I wish everyone would read the update/clarification from BP that CNN has posted.
Hayward has NOT been removed.
Hayward is STILL in charge of the gulf.
CNN is the only major news organization that is getting the story correct!
