U.S. Labor Secretary announces $40 Million in retraining grants for Michigan

Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis visited Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan on June 17, to announce the release of up to $40 Million dollars of retaining grants for Michigan's dislocated workers.

The two grants will cover $21 million dollars in Trade Adjustment Assistance and Regional Economic Impact National Emergency Grants of 19 million dollars. The grants will serve to provide services for workers affected by documented layoffs in the three defined regional sections of Southeastern Michigan, West Michigan and Mid-Michigan; and be disbursed by a county wide basis, in the regional areas.
