(GA Sen.) Isakson apologizes for ‘unwashed' remark
Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Amid rising heat over recent comments in which he referred to voters as the "unwashed," Sen. Johnny Isakson issued an apology Thursday, saying he meant no harm.

"It was a poor choice of words," Isakson said in a statement Thursday. "I didn't mean anything derogatory by it, and I sincerely apologize."

The apology came two days after Isakson, an incumbent who's up for re-election, made an off-the-cuff remark about a speech that Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle of Nevada gave to him and other Republican senators on Capitol Hill.

"It wasn't the kind of speech you would give to the unwashed back home," Isakson said of Angle's talk. His comments first appeared on a Fox News Web site. "She was talking to her colleagues."

3. Given the cost of toiletries nowdays...
..I can see where the upper-crusteans would look down on the mere constituents and make the ASSumption that they were unclean. Let's hope they're too dirty to vote this idiot another term in office!

6. The article doesn't say so in so many words, but he's an R (of course).
He just gave his opponent a very, very potent weapon. Who was the last Democratic senator from Georgia, anyway? Seriously, thank God the Republicans are so fucking stupid. If Democrats weren't so utterly spineless, we'd wipe the floor with these pinheads year in and year out.

7. Max Cleland. We all know what Saxby Chambliss did to him.
Chambliss is even a bigger asshole than Isakson.

8. come on, who could *possibly* view that as 'derogatory'?
I mean really!

I just hope he got the apology worded correctly.......'I apologize that I got caught referring to my constitutients as 'the unwashed'.......I now realize that it is wrong to get caught.'
