ACLU, gay couples sue to uphold same-sex marriage in Oregon

http://www.oregonlive.com/newsflash/national/index.ssf?/newsflash/get_story.ssf?/cgi-free/getstory_ssf.cgi?a0845_BC_GayMarriage-Oregon&&news&gaymarriageportland

"The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit Wednesday that could put the issue of gay marriage on the fast track to the state's Supreme Court.

The dispute over same-sex weddings could be heard as early as next month.

Several other legal challenges had been brought by conservative leaders and Christian pastors, but gay-marriage opponents and supporters consolidated their lawsuits because they agree the ACLU's suit most directly addresses the constitutional issues arising from gay marriage."

2. This could lead to gay marriage across the state by May.
Just one last kick to point out how big this story just happens to be.

3. Oh, please..please
I hope Multnomah keeps on marrying. My sister and her partner are driving down tonight from Bellingham, WA to get married, so I hope the county doesn't shut down like Benton did.

4. Multnomah will stay the course until this hits the Supreme Court.
The commissioners have made that very clear.
