Israel agrees 'in principle' to lift blockade
Source: RTE news

The Middle East envoy and former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has said Israel has agreed in principle to begin within days to ease its three-year-old blockade on Gaza.

He was speaking in Luxembourg after a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

The ministers issued a statement calling for the Gaza blockade to be lifted and a 'credible, independent' inquiry into the Israeli assault on ships which prevented aid from being delivered to Gaza.

An easing of the collective punishment? Lets hope so. At least some good will have come from the deaths of the murdered aid workers.

1. Iran is steaming towards Israel.
Iran aid ships on collision course with Israel's Gaza blockade

Robin Pomeroy

Tehran — Reuters Published on Monday, Jun. 14, 2010 9:11AM EDT Last updated on Monday, Jun. 14, 2010 9:29AM EDT

Iran is sending aid ships to blockaded Gaza, state radio said on Monday – a move likely to be considered provocative by Israel which accuses Tehran of arming the Palestinian enclave’s Islamist rulers, Hamas.

One ship left port on Sunday and another will depart by Friday, loaded with food, construction material and toys, the report said. “Until the end of (Israel’s) Gaza blockade, Iran will continue to ship aid,” said an official at Iran’s Society for the Defence of the Palestinian Nation.

4. And this...
Is one of the reasons that Israel's stupid blockade and punish the Palestinians is so infernally stupid. The quick trigger finger and stupidly brutal actions only lend credence and legitimacy to the fundamentalists in Iran. If it weren't for their ability to pretend to be humanitarians with regards to the Palestinians the Iranian people would have secularized quite a bit more by now.

It's all Penny-wise and pound-foolish.

2. Just as they agree "in principle" with a two-state solution
it takes three days to end a blockade? How does that work? Just... stop enforcing the blockade. Take the boats back to Ashdod or tel Aviv, wherever their ports are, and end the damn blockade, it's not that hard.
