Pressed by Obama, BP Weighs Options on Dividend

WASHINGTON — Searching for a way to satisfy both the United States government and its own shareholders, the board of BP on Monday was examining three options for what to do with its next dividend, a person with direct knowledge of the board’s discussions said.

No problem. When Obama reopens deepwater drilling in his speech tomorrow, he will make more noise about being tough on BP, and blaming them for drilling according to the laws now in place.

After he meets with the BP chairman later this week, he will make it clear that the BP dividend is BPs business, and that we are all better served if BP stays healthy and can pay for the cleanup, and pay to adopt his new "tougher than Bush" drilling regs that will guarantee no more blowouts ever.

Shareholders bought stock. In this case they lose. That's the chance they take. Boo hoo.

How about BP satisfying the people in the gulf who are getting sick and losing their livelihood?

I think your last paragraph says it all. :(
