Incumbent Lincoln wins runoff over Halter
AP projects victory for two-term incumbent senator in hard-fought primary

updated 3 minutes ago
Sen. Blanche Lincoln has defeated Lt. Gov. Bill Halter in a hard-fought runoff for the Democratic Senate primary nomination in Arkansas, The Associated Press projects.

The Tuesday runoff election was the second faceoff between Lincoln and Halter. Neither received over 50 percent of the vote in the May 18 primary.

Lincoln earned the ire of powerful unions for her votes on health care, the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and a labor board nominee favored by union groups. The Service Employees International Unionand the AFL-CIO spent millions on the effort to unseat Lincoln, who they say is out of touch with working families. The two-term senator has battled back, enlisting the aid of former President Bill Clinton, who campaigned for her in his home state.

Lincoln will face an uphill battle against GOP Rep. John Boozman in November.

3. Sorry - I won't accept the call.
The lawsuit in Garland County will come in, and force the election to be invalidated due to disenfranchisement.

Politico can go suck my balls. I won't hear it from a Republican-owned source.

10. All the better to blame him when she looses the GE
In the mean time, the DLCcrats here and about will be bludgeoning the rest of us with "if you had only supported her from the beginning, then we wouldn't have lost that seat".

20. Aint that the truth
But that won't be what the news keeps talking about when she looses. It'll be all "Obama's mandate is gone, right of center country, blah blah blah.." all the time.

Best we all keep this in mind in November, otherwise its like to be a more stressful time than it needs to be, even given the current state of existence.

7. Looks to me like Halter won. The AP has Pulaski County's numbers flipped.
Halter was winning Pulaski (Little Rock) 60%-40%. All of a sudden, it flipped to Lincoln 60%-40%.

Pulaski was supposed to be one of Halter's best counties, but the AP has it listed as one of Lincoln's best.

So that's a few thousand votes right there. Halter's won it, folks.

13. They aint likely to fix it
and given the states position on polling places in Halter strongholds, they ain't likely to fix it either.

http://www.votenaturally.org/electionresults/index.php?ac:show:contest_statewide=1&elecid=221&contestid=4

The Arkansas SOS lists Lincoln ahead, and Pulaski is on the list of counties counted.

Edited on Tue Jun-08-10 10:21 PM by DumpDavisHogg
It suddenly flipped from 60-40 Halter to 60-40 Lincoln. Why would a Halter stronghold do so well for Lincoln, when Lincoln lost so badly in a bunch of rural counties?

(By the way, I mean Pulaski County, not statewide.)

21. I ain't sayin its legit
All I'm sayin is "it is" and it does not appear to be a simple transcription error.

In the mean time, at least progressives can look forward to pointing out that blue dogs don't really garner Republican votes, so they are kinda useless and valueless.

44. From the Daily Kos live blog, many early on said that that the early returns
were from pro-Halther precincts. Lincoln beat Halter badly in Pulaski county in the primary. (Caveat - I don't know anything about either the bloggers (though he was well respected by others or about Arkansas.)

I have seen similar large jumps in my own county in NJ, where I know the towns, that would have looked like this - yet everyone in the room would think were normal.

They haven't counted ALL of the votes yet...and there may be

I really thought that Halter would pull this off. CNN is claiming that Bill Clinton's strong support might have put her over the top.

24. At least pick a good write in
Maybe a third party? No point in wasting a vote completely. And who knows, maybe everyone else will forget to fill that section in and yours is the one vote that matters in electing a socialist.

40. Someone else somewhere in a thread mentioned
that there may be a green party person named John Gray running, with or without an actual ballot listing. Why not look into who that person is. It might send a real message if that person were to get any significant amount of electoral support, even if only single digit numbers. FSM, not as much.

41. Sad . . . but can only think they had to go a long way to rig that result . . .!!!
And, IMO, they've been rigging our elections for decades --

I'd question it all back to Nixon/Humphrey which was a 100,000 vote squeaker??

Keep in mind the large computers used by MSM and the individual voting machines

began to come in during the mid and late 1960's --

just about the time America was passing The Voting Rights Act.

It takes political violence of every kind in order for the right wing to rise --
