'Specific threat' closes U.S. Embassy in UAE

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- Following an undisclosed but "specific threat," the U.S. Embassy and consulate general office in the United Arab Emirates temporarily closed Wednesday, a statement from the embassy said.

"The embassy and consulate will be assessing security posture on the Thursday-Friday weekend with regard to reopening on Saturday," according to the statement.

The U.S. Embassy is located in Abu Dhabi and the consulate general is in Dubai.

"We have no specific threat information against the American community in the UAE, however the Department of State has issued a new worldwide caution and a new Middle East-North Africa public announcement in light of the killing of Sheikh Yassin in Gaza."
