New York Toyota dealerships cut advertisin on ABC stations over coverage of accelerator problems

Frustrated with the way ABC News has covered Toyota’s recall problems, the manufacturer's dealers throughout the region are cutting back advertising spending on ABC stations.

Dennis Lauzon, head of the Greater New York Toyota Dealer Association, told the Daily News that the dealers had been advertising on local newscasts and were tired of their products being bashed.

“They’re bashing our product during the news, it made no sense to advertise,” Lauzon said.

Lauzon's ballpark estimate put the loss to WABC/Ch. 7 at upwards of $5 million.

1. Cant say I blame them
It doesnt sell your product to advertise on programs that say your product sucks.

2. I look at it as editors with scruples

I'm sure they knew loosing Toyota ads was a probable. They stuck to their guns. Gutsy considering print news continues to loose paying readers.

3. the stations will offer discount ad rates to other dealerships
and the toyota dealerships will lose customers....makes a lot of sense does`t it!
