(Bob) Woodward book on Obama due out in U.S. in September

(Reuters) - U.S. investigative journalist Bob Woodward, who rose to fame reporting on the Watergate scandal in the 1970s, will release a new book on President Barack Obama in September, publisher Simon & Schuster said on Wednesday.

Woodward, who in recent years wrote several bestselling books on former President George W. Bush, has been working on the Obama White House book for more than a year. The book, released initially in the United States, does not yet have a title or print run and no more details were available, said Victoria Meyer, spokeswoman for Simon & Schuster.

An associate editor of The Washington Post newspaper, Woodward is well known for his investigative work with fellow reporter Carl Bernstein that played a key role in forcing President Richard Nixon to resign in 1974 in the Watergate scandal.

His last and fourth book on former President George W. Bush, "The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008," had an initial print run in 2008 of 900,000 hardback copies. Simon & Schuster is a division of CBS Corporation.

1. I have read some of his books.
In my opinion they are reasonably accurate.

2. He hasn't been an investigative reporter since Watergate.
More like a behind the scenes stenographer with excellent access.

3. Subtle yet pernicious
By mentioning Watergate in the lead along with the president, the story could allow some readers to draw an inappropriate link between Mr. Obama and "scandal" and suggest that Woodward's book will naturally be about some type of scandal.

4. I doubt that because there has been no scandal.
I am guessing that most of his book will cover the war in Afghanistan and the health care issue.

6. Now THAT"S sarcasm! It has to be...
please please please... tell me those aren't a couple of the biggest scandals in recent history? I'll cut some slack on the health care thing, because nobody is getting shot over it to my knowledge. Simple grand larceny there.. Oh, and where's "Waldo"?

8. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
Obama had two choices in Afghanistan, get out or finish what we started. Check back with me in a few years and I will let you know if Obama made the right decision.

10. Bush and his supporters insist history will vindicate him. Of course, we'll all be dead by then,
so who can argue with them?

5. I found "Bush At War" memorable
in a :puke: sort of way.

Seriesly, Bob's probably a little uncomfortable be remembered for something he did 36+ years ago, and now being mostly known as a Republican shill

11. I always enjoy Bob Woodward books. A little while ago I found
one I hadn't read about the Clinton/Dole election. I had no idea Dick Morris was so influential in the Clinton White House. It really upset me. A book about Obama is bound to be interesting.
