A large tornado struck Yazoo City! This isn't a very large city.

Crossing 1-55...another one near Booneville and Iuka, MS.

1. Weather Channel is saying...
Edited on Sat Apr-24-10 01:49 PM by AngryOldDem
...possible EF4 (160-200 mph winds); debris able to be seen on radar; structures flattened. Greg Forbes of TWC is comparing it to the Greensburg, KS tornado of a few years ago.

Incredibly sad.

EDIT: Witness says Yazoo City is "gone." He is on the east side of the city.

3. I had the unfortunate chance,
to drive thru Greensburg about 3 hours after their Tornado.

Amazing,There are no words to describe this.

I have been thru Hurricanes, massive thunderstorms and a couple of large Califiornia earthquakes...there is nothing like the the destruction that a F-4/F-5 Tronado can do.

My Heart goes out to these Folk.

2. Good luck.
I've been a near victim of a tornado myself. It's terrifying.

5. Every time I hear of Yazoo MS, I think of Jerry Clower and his
Marcel Ledbetter stories - particularly the one where Marcel took a bunch of burdock to boy scout camp and sold them to the city kids as 'porcupine eggs'.

Hopefully the 'no injury' status remains. Loss of personal property is bad enough, but more easily dealt with than injuries and fatalities. Wishing the best for the folks of Yazoo MS.
