Anti war demonstrators scale London's Big Ben & hoist banner
From Reuters

Two demonstrators from Greenpeace display a banner beneath the clock face of Big Ben, in central London on the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, March 20, 2004. Two anti-war protesters climbed London's landmark Big Ben clock tower at the Houses of Parliament on Saturday ahead of a demonstration to mark the first anniversary of war in Iraq, police said. The pair reached the clockface 328 feet (100 meters) above London using ropes and mountaineering equipment after scaling the tower early in the morning.

1. not to sound too negative...
but I think it might have been a little more effective if they'd brought larger signs.

5. I guess climbing 328 feet with something bigger on their backs
might have been a bit of a problem...The cops have Parliament surrounded and stop everyone looking, er, conspicuous...

2. Something I don't understand

Why didn't they have a bigger banner? One article I read on this said they "unfurled" a banner. I only wish the banner they had was big enough to "unfurl". They go to all this trouble, and all they have is a 3' sign?

4. It does seem sort of silly
that's a lot of energy for minimal dramatic flair.
